My favorite players are the ones that actually look like (and really are) enjoying the game as they play. I can't stand to watch a couple of tight-a$$ players going at it (as in the Ralf Souquet and Karen Corr types. Although I like BOTH of them and respect the hell out of their games).

So my picks are:

Men: Alex P.
Women: Vivian V.

Maniac

anyone who can bust the 10 ball ghost........and i really enjoyed watching jersey red play his style a flare was so cool....

when you could do stuff like that i was real good.
now days you lose 500 to someone the next day they know who you are.
thats why i would have liked to been aroundback in the 60s and 70s or so.

even if they dont know who you are you might get 2 barrel's if your playing sets or 4 barrels if your playing by the game, people/players seem to have ADD or less gamble these days. Its 2 barrels and out so often. these days-even when its close!

People ar are very risk averse these days, they are scaared of everything. There are warning labels on everything we eat, etc. Americans have lost their balls. I took about 10 years away from the pool scene, when I came back I noticed alot of people talking about getting mugged, stuck-up for their bank roll etc. Back in the day that shit went down but nobody sat around nervious about it. They lost their balls-watching TV where they make everything sound dangerous-this week its gas pedals on Toyata cars, next week it will be blue barrys with e.Coli.

People have changed, they also like to blame others and not take responsibility so if they go off at a craps table it was the cold dice. in pool if you lose its your fault, you either made a bad game or played bad. that responsibility is why there is less action now.

present: Earl Strickland, Ralf Souquet

past: Tony Ellin, I love the way he would slow roll balls so often. Any time I saw him play I immediately wanted to get on a table and hit balls.

You know thats a great call, Tony was awesome who knows how much better he would have got, everytime he came to Vegas or where ever I saw him play he was getting stronger and stronger. I only spoke to him a couple times, Shannon has told some great stories about Tony on the golf course, man I wish I would have been there. Shannon, Tony and JA all moving on each other at the golf course, I'm sure Kim was there too, those were some of the best times of JA's life he told me, Shannon said the same. RIP Tony. Losing Tony was perhaps the biggest single loss in pool because he was so young, likeable and loved the fans.

There are a couple players I really enjoy watching. But I will only mention just one of them here: Bartrum!!!

I have watched Chris play quite a bit over the years at DCC and TAR and really like how he handles himself on and off the table. This guy is a class act in all forms. For those who haven't met Chris he could be mistaken as weak I would guess since he is quite and somewhat reserved but on the table he is a beast. I watched him play Robb Saez at DCC and Chris showed great class just doing his job.

It was cool meeting and talking to you Chris and I now know why you command respect and that is because you give it!! First class guy all the way!

Some of my favorite players i have never seen i real life. Ronnie O, and Tony Drago both shoot very quick and have a way of making the game look so easy and effortless. Fast and loose. Of the players i have actually seen in person, witch are few, one of my favorites is Rafael Martinez. He has a uncanny ability to stroke the ball. Dont take this the wrong way, but the first time i say him warming up, i thought perhaps he had sold his soul to the Devil.

Yeah Tony was awesome. Not many people realize what a great player he was. He never seemed to get rattled no matter who he was playing. He beat an in dead stroke Parica to win one of the old big events in Ohio (can't remember which one) in the early 90's. Also making it to the finals of the 1993 U.S. Open and having to play Earl when Earl was the man, Tony didn't win but he gave Earl a tough match if I recall correctly. He is definitely missed.
