Who Made This Cue?

I recently acquired this cue, but have no definite idea who made it. The cue is very well made and some of the names that have been suggested are:

Libra
Kent Taylor
(Old) Custom McDermott

The cue has a 3/8x10 pin, flat face wood-to-wood joint, sharp points, and the veneers in the points match the veneer rings in the butt sleve. Also, the cue was (recently?) refinished prior to my purchasing it, which adds to the mystery.

Any ideas?

Don Simmons, from New Orleans, made at least a couple of cues exactly like that one, Tommie. I am sure he stole the idea from someone else so it doesn't have to be his cue but quite possible. You could ask him but he is no longer with us.

Guess what? We might have finally got a clue who made the Mystery Cue! My buddy in Germany, Mad-Mat, sent these pictures. The joint rings aren't the same and the pin in the one shown is 5/16-18, but other than that, it looks like the cue might be a Stanley West, which apparently was a nice European line of cues that Richard Helmstetter might have been involved with some years back. I don't know if your cue is a variation with a 3/8-10 pin and different rings, but that sure does look like the rascal, doesn't it?

Saw that cue on fleabay. It's definately worth what you paid. Looks like a good stick.

of the stanley west series there had been four more designs called "Super West"
I was told these were made by the Adam/ Helmstetter connection

The joint rings do always remind of the infamous Robert Weir cues, I do wonder if this is the reason, that this brand is/was only known in Europe and not in the US

If anybody knows about the history and background of these cues please let me know

That was remarkable detective work. I kind of thought the points looked like Helmstetter colors but I really didn't think the rest of the cue was Helmstetter. This cue was certainly bugging me for a few weeks.
