Just as the title asks: Who makes the best auto GPS and why?

I think voice command is cool to have
Traffic updates

I had a Garmin Nuvi and it was stolen.
Now I want a new one, but I was wanting some opinions.

Thanks

This is the part where someone comes along and blasts you for starting an NPR thread in the Main Forum....

You might ask the mods to move it.

I have a Tom-Tom, it works great. :)

Garmin Nuvi 255wt (with traffic) or 265wt. Garmin has an active satellite for updating its GPS devices.....

I agree, just got the 265wt from Walmart.com for 208. Its got spoken streets, live lifetime traffic and bluetooth for your phone. You can place/receive calls from your gps screen and it accesses your phone book. Its very bad ass.

Garmin

Garmin got into GPS by doing aviation equipment . If it's good enough for
a plane it will guide my Van .

I'll second the Garmin Nuvi 255W (or WT if you use it to commute). We got the 255W for $150ish shipped from bestbuy.com. We live in Iowa, so traffic isn't a big concern. If I were in Chicago, I would go WT.

Either unit is very easy to use, has a big screen, & can quickly (in 2-3 clicks) guide you to a nearby gas station (restrooms for the Mrs) or resturant (sorted by cuisine! hungry for tacos, it'll tell you where to go.)
