Who makes the best shaft?

Where should I buy the best replacement shaft for my cue? I don't mean Predator or Searing or Szamboti. I mean an exceptional custom shaft that I could reliably get in a reasonable amount of time. Thanks.

Whats the difference between what you are looking for and a searing or szamboti, i dont understand

Mr Gracio makes an excellent shaft at an excellent price and he'll have it to you in no time.

He's a member here at Az. Graciocues is his id

IMHO Paul Dayton makes the most playable shaft from great wood that I've ever touched. His taper is extra sweet. He's reasonably fast, but you may have to send him your butt for a final fitting. On the other hand you might not. Call him at 772-489-0577 between 8-5 weekdays. You will not be disappointed...Tom

My point is you can't get Searing or Szamboti to make you one. And I said, "reliable" and "reasonable time." There are guys who will tell you "yes" and you never hear from them again, after waiting for 12 months.

Dave Albrecht's shafts are outstanding. I ordered one and liked it so much I ordered 3 more and also have two of his cues on order. He also does fabulous leather wraps. So far he has wrapped about 14 cues for me.

In my opinion, Wes Hunter and Eric Crisp use some of the best shaft wood around. Wes uses a pretty rare joint pin, so from him, you would have to buy the blank and have another guy match your particular joint. Eric is probably too busy, but he might sell you a blank.

1. What type of cue do you have?
2. What Pin is on your cue? What is the diameter of the cues butt?
3. What type of ring is needed - Custom or Solid color phenolic?
4. What length is required?
5. What weight is required for the shaft?

With out the above information no one can give you a price!!

Take Care

shafts

I'd say Gilbert and Madden are good choices. Evan Clark at schon as well. Martinez and If you can find old Mcdermott b model shafts. Just watched a tv bit on Maddens shafts. Shaftwood from the New England states-vermont mark

This thread should get interesting. There are many opinions on the subject.
Many younger pros today use Predator or OB1. These companies use their technology to make shafts that play a certain way that seems to be popular. There are many old timers who swear by their older shafts.

I think it is a personal preference thing. Just like some people like a 20 oz cue while others want 18 oz. You have to try a shaft and play with it for a while to know if it is right for you. I'm sure there are quite a few shaft makers out there that make good shafts. I would start by going to platinum billiards web site and looking at the tests they have done on shafts for different things like deflection and speed.

Tiger can make you one. If the type you want is not in stock, it usually in 2-3 biz days.

I've tried Tiger and ended up selling both of them. They started warping after only a few months. When my friend put it in his cue lathe, the faster it spun, the more they wobbled

I tried Predator, no warping problems and I still have one with a sniper tip as a backup.

Couple years ago, I tried the OB-1 with a Morri.....bought 2 of them. I don't play with anything else. You can get it with almost any joint you can think of and if you have more time, they will even match your collar material to the butt.

Great product IMHO

Thanks for the knock.

This is the first I've heard of it. You may have wanted to contact us or whomever you bought them from.

Warpage is not an issue to be concerned with in regards to Tiger "X" Shafts.
