Who Plays The Best Opposite Handed?

Just wondering if anyone had any good stories seeing people match up and play opposite handed. I play pretty well opposite handed and have caught a few people getting out of line offering me huge spots that way. I think the best I have ever seen play opposite handed is Tony Watson.

It's funny that you mention this because I am actually right handed but play left handed. So my right handed play is not to bad. I have difficulties stroking the ball though. Anything that requires a descent draw stroke I can't do. But cut shots, stuns, and just regular shots are not to hard. I practice long straight in shots from time to time opposite handed. I look like a dumb ass for the first few shots then I get the hang of it :D.

Ive seen Fong Pang Chao do some nice opposite handed shots.

Efren is pretty damn good as far as pool players go. I'd guess Corey is pretty good since he seems to love the esoteric gambling spots like shooting with the rake,etc...

If you include three cushion billiards, Raymond Ceuelemens was supposed to be above 1.000 with his opposite hand. There was a long period where he might of beaten every US player spotting them that way. Other than Sang Lee, I don't know that any US player would have been a big favorite over Raymond shooting opposite handed.

Snooker of course has Ronnie O'Sullivan who is far and away the best at shooting opposite handed at that game. I don't think anyone, at any game, can play better than Ronnie does at snooker with his opposite hand:

Next TAR match: Ronnie vs Schmidt 8-ball, 10-ball, and JS vs Ronnie at snooker with Ronnie shooting left handed. Ronnie shooting left handed at the US Snooker championships would be 5x worse than Ceuelemens at three cushion. 10-1 favorite?

I watched souquet practice before his match at a turning stone event. he was running a few racks wrong handed. So I would put him up there in pool. over all, ronnie. they say he would be top 12 in snooker playing wrong handed.

I can't speak for the current players, but Keith was the best I ever saw switching paws. Sigel and Buddy were next.

I say Ronnie O'Sullivan...the guy is pretty amazing w/ either hand.

I've been practicing shooting left handed, which is my opposite, but its really awkward. In a pressure situation, I will just do the behind the back thing to make the shot. But I'm going to keep practicing shooting w/ the left.

when wade crane was at the top of his game his right hand might have been able to give his left the last two , not much more.

Sigel, I believe is a natural righty, but plays lefty. I saw him play right handed against a good player at the Miami Bowl in 1976 between tournament matches and get the cash. The kid didn't think he was playing opposite hand.

I think I recall a match with Wincardona commentating where Reyes shot a shot left handed. Billy said in all the years he watched Efren play he only saw him miss one, one shot.

Cecil was the best opposite hand by far. I can't nobody has named him in this thread.

He HAD to learn to play left handed. Or quit pool.
cecil was so arrogant and argumentative , i believe someone broke his right hand. i hope as a lefty his personna has changed.

Efren has run racks of rotation playing opposite handed and Little Al is the second best player I have seen. I have seen Al run racks of 9 ball playing opposite handed and have heard the road stories about him playing left handed. Jose Parica plays really well opposite handed to.

Lots of players are good at making shots with the opposite hand during games when it is necessary, but the best I have seen, breaking and playing the entire game is Wade Crane. Around 1990 you couldn"t tell which hand he should be playing with.
