Who Should Get A "Pro Player" Banner?

So was SJD just a money player?

He lived here in Ft. Worth for awhile, and they do say he played pretty well. I won't doubt he was a good player, just wondering what his forte was.

There were very few, if any organized tournaments in my day..At least none worthwhile, or profitable enough to leave my family, and steady income to travel to !..I guess my main 'forte' (at least the one I'm most proud of) is never feeling the need or obsession, to brag about my accomplishments !

SJD

PS..Its Saturday evening...Time for my "Dean Martin act"!

Seeing as he's never made a post you didn't like,
not surprised you would say that. lol

Whether I like them or not is for me to decide. Whether you like them or not is for YOU to decide.

I welcome EVERYONE to post on here with WHATEVER they want if it relates to pool. I enjoy learning things and hopefully incorporating them into my game to help me improve. I read things from EVERYBODY and I separate the "wheat from the chaff"!

(Prov: to separate what is useful or valuable from what is worthless).

Aloha.

I know he has a rep as a top player 30 to 40 years ago...did he ever play in any tournaments? Win any? He's too busy telling us how self deprecating he is to fill us in on his tournament wins.

I got a feeling SJD has as many wins as 'The White Hope' Vernon Elliot....
...who a lot of tournament winners wouldn't mess with.

Don Willis doesn't have much of a tournament record either.

That's cool, we just wish you would talk about pool.

Any one-pocket strategy you would care to share with us?

I don't think great players that haven't competed and placed well in professional level tournaments should be given the "professional" label.

There's more to being a professional player than just playing well. I respect the insights we get from those players that have at least attempted to grind out some sort of existence on the professional circuit. At least at one time or another.

Really good player does not equal professional player in my book.
