Who were some of the best women playing for the cheese

I was living in Oak Park, Il in the late 70's until Nov 80. Lori was put in the King & I in Cicero and guys were jumping through hoops to play her. Don't remember any of em liking it. LMAO! My girl even wanted to learn how to play after this.

Bet you played at Ben Ho's too, DRW? Bobby & Ronnie Haddad and the OTHER Jimmy King?

I played the King & I every night from Thanksgiving 1979 on. Must have missed that one. Did Rocket Man play Lori? He played 2 balls better at the King & I.

Lewis, I'm sorry, I find the "almost speechless" part hard to believe. ;)

Dick

He was a hurting man when that was over. $Bill is right, they were playing even.

The next day though, I put him in a golf game on a tough snooker table and he took that off for $2000 to redeem himself.

Kelly, Phoebe, Ming and some of the others that have been mentioned are good points and ones I didn't think of right away. I guess the debate for female money players has proven that there may be more than we had first thought. Now that I have been thinking about it I have come up with much more and June Hagar was stone cold playing for the money. I played her in Arizona and followed her to Texas and played as well. Kristi must have forgot those times that she bet against me when I played June esp. the one time in San Antonio when her an Holly went busted and I gave them 1/2 their money back b/c they needed a walkin' stick. Vivian can vouch cause we all ended up staying at her house afterwards cause June kicked them out. As far as the 8 goes I don't recall ever backing down from a spot from any of the female players at that time and even if it would have been foolish I am certain that I would have played.

Belinda???

Just curious if you ever matched up with Belinda while you were in TX, Monica? She used to crank it up pretty good in years past.

No never had the chance to play Belinda but always liked her game and I bet she would be a fun player to play. She seems very sportsmanlike and loves the game.

Hey Monica - I was the girl with June when you beat her that night in Arizona. Those were amazing sets to witness between you two.

That was a lot of fun and I was realy nervous. If I would have lost the 1st set I would have been busted. I would have only had maybe $300 left in my pocket about 1800 miles from home.

Wow! We didn't know that (obviously). I remember June was pulling out money from all sorts of secret spots in her wallet that night.

Things are getting little hot here and I hope that it will not escalate further.I am holding a big bucket of water ( not fuel ,you bad minds ) to pour and put off the fire.

I saw June about a year ago and we talked for maybe 2 hrs. Is she doing well and still living in TX?

I like playing one on one much better than tournaments b/c you and your opponent have time to show their stuff and get comfortable. The best battles and best pool comes out of those situations. (I think)

2 weeks ago Belinda beat wade crane in a tourny (run by shannon daulton ) in fayettville, NC.

She can`t play a lick and you can give her last three and wild 5 for 1000 $ race to 5.

Vagabond, buddy, Monica has already demonstrated a ton of heart and the ability not to bite at bad games. She has my respect. She might not have played Belinda but I have, be it years ago and I'm sure if she beat Wade she is still capable of stringing a rack or two together.

Five and the last three???? That's got to be worse than taking the 7 ball from Reed, right? I don't think Monica is going for the game Vag, but then, if you want to stake it???

It looks like you are interested in staking Monica.what will you be giving up? There is room for negotiation.Match can be arranged at Grady`s room.

by the way I have been experiencing difficulty in opening some of the video clips you have been sending me thru e-mails.Thanks for those though.

I have always liked Belinda's game, Vagabond but YES I do like Monica's end of it. As far as matching the game up that would have to be done by the two participants. I have enough trouble matching my own games up.

I'm sure not traveling all the way up to Grady's to stake anything. If you still lived on the coast it might be easier to put this game in action.

I guess you would stake Belinda if she gets the 5 out and 2 on the wire. Heart-heart-heart.

Well, I will be the 1st to say I want no part of giving Belinda the 5 and whatever else it was. Everybody has an off day and I will tell you that Belinda has been playing a great game. Belinda puts a lot of her time and focus into the betterment of the game and cuts most of her 9 balls in after a 5 hr or more board meeting she just attended.

The Big Cheese!

Vivian Villeral End Of Story. Watched Her Play "action Jackson" In Beaumont, Texas For 15k A Set Race To 15! She Won Both Sets 15 To 14. Wow. And Dont Think "action Jackson" Doesnt Have Any Gambol!

Vivian's name should have been in there a long time ago. I have watched and bet with her many times. It is always fun, too. Something I do want to add to this thread is that I do not hustle. I play games and sometimes with wagers on them with people that I know and they know me. It helps your game and is fun if you do it this way. This is my opinion. There are many fun stories that can be shared from the past years of pool action and also great moments in pool history. I love to sit around in the pool room and listen to all the stories.
