Larry Nevel VS Cliff Joyner playing 10 ahead, 1 pocket, even at a neutral site for 10K

Cliff Joyner. Larry is great, but I thought that in the US it was clear that Cliff was best.

Cliff is definitely the favorite, I would BET on it;) And the window would be open. It would take a gentleman that goes by the name of Efren for me to bet against Cliff in 1hole. IMO
But I would bet on Larry doing PROP shots.:D  That man has a POWERFUl stroke.
Peace
Todd

No offense, but I think Cliff Joyner swims through a river of **** to play Larry Nevel a long ahead session even One Pocket.......

Any amount. :D

None taken..... i think Cliff is a huge favorite, But someone on here was swearing that Larry would win.....

i haven't seen larry play 1 pocket so i didn't know... i thought maybe I had missed something.....

i got to see Cliff play twice and it was an absolute joy to watch....

i'll bet my house on cliff. I have nothing against larry, but having watched him play in person & seeing first hand how he lags balls & banks & kicks, i think efren is the only person that should beat him consistently.

Joyner has to be the fav as of now in one pocket. But, if Nevel keeps growing in skill as he has, then who knows about next year. Joyner has probably peaked as a player and he'll probably be a very formidible 1P powerhouse for some time, but Nevel is still on the upswing.

In an all-around contest, Joyner is the pick in 1P or banks. Nevel gets my vote on 8 ball, 9 ball, 10 ball or 14.1. And I also think that in those games, Nevel beats Joyner bigger than Joyner beats Nevel in 1P or banks.

thats an interesting point.... I never thought about that...

Didn't Cliff go deep in the world 10 ball event? I know its only 1 tournament...

Larry sure seems to have one of the best strokes I have ever seen....

I'll be the first person out there to be in the minority, and I'm sure it's coming as no suprise at all, but I still say Larry wins playing even with Cliff. People really don't know Larry's one-pocket game because he hardly ever plays. Cliff on the other hand plays more one-pocket than anyone in the states so that's why it's so easy for people to see him as the favorite.

Cliff Joyner is the better 1P player unless Larry's game has REALLLY come up in the last few months.

Personally I don't think that Nevel is a favorite over Frost, Chohan, Corey and a few other guys, all of which are decided underdogs to cliff. I think Cliff is the only person alive right now who comes close to Efren.

I also don't think that Cliff is as much of an underdog in those 9-ball and 8-ball games as people may think. I know of a little situation that Cliff and SVB got into recently where SVB gave up something like 4 games going to 20 for some big $$$ and Cliff supposedly destroyed him.

Well let me not get off topic. Cliff is the better player in 1P. For sure.

I got to see Cliff play a 1 pocket tournament a few years ago, and it was wonderful to watch... I don't know how good his other games are, but I thought he played very well in the world 10 ball tournament...
He is definately solid....

Why don't you ask Larry if he would play Cliff even one pocket? If you get a yes response, then either:
1) he has backers that have no clue or just like to give away their money
2) he is delusional
3) he has talked to Cliff and some "business" is going on

I forgot about Chohan in my original post. There's another great one-pocket player that Cliff doesn't have to like playing. I'm not saying Cliff isn't the favorite there, but Tony can play pretty sporty.

As for Larry playing Frost, Chohan or Corey, I'm thinking they could all get action. I haven't talked to Larry today, but I'm gonna give him a call shortly and I'll ask him what he thinks about playing them.

Oh, and as for Cliff playing Larry in 8-ball or 9-ball or 10-ball...a spot was offered to Cliff in Atlanta to play Larry some 10-ball and Cliff declined. I can't remember if it was the 8, the 9, or both, but I know it was talked about.

I have to admit, this post gave me a little chuckle. I'm gonna give Larry a call today and I'll see what he says. Not saying a game will happen, but I'll at least see what he has to say about the topic.

It would be nice to see if Larry really plays that good.... I mean, I can't say he doesn't.... He definately has one of the best strokes I have ever seen...

I still like Cliff for the Caaaaaash....

At DCC and it was more games (read ridiculous amount) and Cliff won.

Are you kidding? If they hook up I want a sweat bet on Larry.

Larry has one hell of a 1-pocket game.

I dont know how he is going under the radar here.

Check these links and the players he beat.

He put Efren in the losers bracket in this one. Although he came back and won it.

SPRNVA,
Have you had a chance to speak with Larry yet? I am just curious what he had to say.

I'm going with Russ on this one for one pocket

For those of you that don't think Cliff can shoot 10 ball, remember the World 10 Ball finals against SVB.
http://propoolvideo.com/predator-world-10-ball-championship/world-10-ball-c.-joyner-v.-s.-van-boening.html

Holds his own pretty well against the skill level of SVB.

I also think Cliff could handle his own in any of the other games also. His safety game and pocketing ability lets him be a major contender for anyone out there.
