Who's Making Palmer Cues Now

I see there's a Palmer Cue company on ebay. Who's making these cues now?

They're sub $100 cues usually. One cue has 60+ inlays and is selling for $89. Says they're based out of Las Vegas.

I'll defer to Tate ... He would probably know about this. However, in my experience, if something sounds too good to be true, it is. And there is no way that there is a genuine Palmer cue with 60 inlays for $89. It's gotta be a knockoff.

You know, for a cue that sold for 60$, it's not a bad looking one. I have seen much worse for much more :) Who knows what it's like in person, but the pictures look OK, finish is even, nothing looks off.

it may say 60 inlays but its not nearly that many, they are counting the rings as inlays.

It looks like it has about ten MOP dots and 4-6 of those sorta diamond shaped inlays.

i hate that when people count rings as inlays and they say oh it has a hundred inlays....you see the cue and its got a diamond on each point and 4 around the buttsleeve and a bunch of rings lol.

Yep...I use a "palmer" sneaky as a break cue...hard buffalo tip, conical taper for stiffness. Definitely Taiwan made, and NOT to be confused with my Palmer model M from the 2nd catalog...

Thank you for the information!

That's disappointing. The question now becomes, does this in any way tarnish the Palmer name to folks who may not know an M series from a cheap-o made overseas?

I hope not...The guy who sold me the cheapy "palmer" also has a Model M.
He was quite honest about it...called it a "palmer american" back then...told me about the Palmer name being purchased, the cue being made in Taiwan.

Anybody in doubt about a "real" Palmer should visit Tate's website...it contains great info, including pics of all the "real" Palmers.

I bought one of them awhile ago. I gave it to a friend who did me a favor, but not before I shot a few games with it.
Unless I just got lucky, it is a fairly well made cue and didn't play half bad for the money. If you just need a knock around bar cue or a breaker, it'll do the trick for ya'll.

I just found a few Bills of Lading online through a website that contains Customs information.

Here's what it says:

In 2006, Palmer Cues imported 676 pieces from a company called Pao Kuan Enterprise Co., Ltd. In December 18th, 2008 they received 785 Kg of Merchandise. Between July 01, 2007 – June 02, 2010 Palmer Cues has received a total of 9 shipments from Pao Kuan Enterprises.

I then found this from another Bill of Lading:

PAO KUAN ENTERPRISE C/O KAO KAO IND

So, It looks like Palmer Cues are just Kao Kao Taiwanese imports

Crap, this Thread is already in Google.

Also realized, THERE'S WAY TOO MUCH INFORMATION ON THE INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY

This is Tate - I'm on Dabarbr's computer - this is correct.

The original Palmer company in New Jersey closed their doors in 1994.

Palmer Industries in Taiwan started to use the name - they've used several logo's including a triangle and a blue quarter moon and he current PALMER decal. They are Kao Kao cues similar to Lucasi. Not bad for the money either, from what I understand.

The only negative is the name confusion. But then again, I'm glad they didn't call them "Szamboti".

The "palmer" I use for a break cue has the old triangle logo, like a rack with one red ball in it. Underneath the triangle, it says "palmer billiards" in small print...Yep, Taiwan all the way. :D

Craig, I've heard that the tips are made from 4 skins.
Depending on how hard you chalk them, you can get a soft Elk Master or a
Triangle from them.
Excuse me while I go poke my eyes out for giving myself a nasty visual.

I have hit balls with this cue both in stainless and radial and for the money its pretty good.Great beginners cue or just knock around cue.The problem was no 2nd shaft but they now offer one.Its know Schon but than again it isn't a $1000!Hits a little stifer than a Meucci
