why are the british the best in the world?

I have been to the states many times. Some of us have passports, you know.

Yes some of us do. However, we Americans are the only ones who have them and can use them while at the same time enjoying the satisfaction of knowing our country is the reason safely traveling abroad is possible. You're welcome by the way. And the reason many Americans don't have one is that our country is so big, with so much to see and do, there's no reason to leave. And nowhere else that can guarantee the level of safety traveling like here. You know, the opposite of this tiny little garbage dump of an island in Europe that insists on including a couple other islands as part of its borders just to make it look significant.

Historically, we win the wars we start, whereas you do not.

And for a nation too scared to finish off the japs with your fists and instead drop an atom bomb on them, it's a bit rich to claim you are any good at fighting.

And having worked with US rangers in the past, if that's your special forces, then you really don't know how to fight at all - lucky you have an endless supply of ordinance to chuck at people - to save you closing with the enemy.

You might wanna study up a bit.

"Surrender of the British at Yorktown 1781"

"British commander Carr Beresford surrenders
to the Argentinians, 1806-7"

"The British troops fled before the French at Corunna."

"The British troops fled before the Germans at Dunkirk, 1940."

"The British troops surrender to the Germans, 1944"

And speaking of the Japs and fists, what happened to the Brits fists below? heh
"The British troops surrender to the Japanese at Singapore, 1942"

Shall we add a ton more?

You don't know Bob Dixon by any chance, do you?

Regardless, you appear to confuse me with someone who is anti american, which i am not. All nations have made catastrophic policy errors, mine included. Besides, I'm a better the devil you know type.

Hm.. fight with fists.. English Long bow, was that a melee weapon? What's wrong with running up to the Vikings and hitting them with a club or sword? Cowardly Englishmen they were no?

The last time a war was fought mostly with infantry was WWI or so, even that was mixed in a lot with artillery and heavy vehicles. Which were by the way pioneered mostly by Germany, like using large cannon and rockets to attack, not the US.

Using the Atom bomb probably saved a few 100k lives and a year off the war.

Wars are won with intel, spying and firepower, not sending a mass of bodies to be shot at.

I think the only war the US "lost" was Vietnam, and that was a big mess from the start. Just a bunch of politicians defending us from the Red Menace.

US is like the police in all those cities that are holding protests. They don't like them till they need them. When your son is shot up by a gang, it's no longer "The police suck" it's "where is the police to protect us and arrest them?".

Wow kiddies behave.

First of all it's good to be proud of your country, but personally taking credit for things your country men did goes a bit too far.

It would be weird if people that sit in their chairs and watch tv and eat chips all day could take credit for heroes that fought in wars?

It's well known that Americans are very patriotic but dont be patriotic to a point it blinds you.

In short as a Dutchie who visited both countries. Both countries are different and people from both countries are different. I like both

how so?

Yes this is true. A few years back, I was shot and killed during a pool tournament in France. It stung I can tell you. much better now thank goodness!

Bizarre you state your safety to travel is so good, the rest of the world is under the illusion that if you pop out to the local store for milk after dark you have a 50/50 chance of the milk stolen by meth heads.

this craze is evidenced by the most successful tv programme in UA history being breaking bad - about a meth cook.

And you wonder why the rest of the world looks on with some distaste?

As to the US success at war fighting.. In the period since 1900, many of the wars that the USA fought without outside help, they go their noses bloodied. A quick google of the interweb tells us this.

You're just a bit, well, crap at fighting to be honest. Nothing personal, but as a former soldier, you just are?

You did have wonderful successes in fights with those huge supper powers Grenada and Panama (lets not talk about your bloody nose in the bay of pigs or Vietnam eh?)

Good at lobbing ordnance at people (though you do have a nasty reputation for the old "blue on blue" and/or the shotgun approach to flinging shells about the place),

as long as you've got other people to do the actual "fighting" of course - you do ok.

Really, really crappy weather...Lol. But seriously I believe that the main reason are the snooker academies where pros can spar and train with other pros as well as be taught by the best coaches. The professional attitude and approach to the sport has built expertise unavailable to the rest of the world. The fact that the top 16 are so heavily favored money- and seeding wise has also been a factor in excluding up-and-comers from breaking through, as they have to beat champions that are playing 24/7, while they themselves can probably only play part time.

All the rest of the snooker world are doing the 4 point contact fundamentals as well, so the answer cannot simply be that. The difference is the continuing exposure to- and learning from top professionals in a structured envrionment. Anyone coming from outside is at a disadvantage from the very start, they may be nervous, need to work a full time job to support themselves instead of playing full time, and are not as familiar with playing against opponents at the highest level on a daily basis.

What are these snooker academies you speak of?

You make them sound like they are on every corner. I couldnt tell you where the closest one to me if my life depended on it.

They do not exist to the scale some of you think they do.

And how does that explain british cannyness at all the rest of the cue sports?

Here I'll answer the question so that we can move on:

They are the best because they have clearly defined fundamentals coupled with structured practice.

Thread closed.

In case nobody noticed, a stupid dumb farthead Brit just lost in the finals of the World Snickers tournament held at the Crustable.

Not so good now, aye?

Typical Euro trash bull$#!+. The Euros come up with a treaty we don't need, then say we can't really fight if we follow it's rules. We bail Europe out of WWII and THEY HELPED US??? You are delusional. And America's safety is now, in your mind, based upon delusions garnered from American TV. Wow.

Let me tell you, eunuch boy, I have travelled this entire country multiple times, Hawaii excluded. I've never had to go through a border check, I've carried my gun everywhere, I've never needed the cops. I've always fealt completely safe. The only places I've ever seen that have any safety issues at all are areas where European ideals have infected the elitist politicians and universities, thus public policy as well. And the reason is, we American males take care of ourselves. We don't need or want outside help. This is especially true of Southern American males. And you still haven't faced the only point that matters concerning our fighting ability. WE BEAT YOU TWICE.
