OP is making it seem like Gabe had a taxpayer-funded vacation?

If so, this is the first time I have heard of it.

You definitely cast aspersions. Red rep on it's way soon if post not updated to at least clarify, or retract.

Guys, hold the red. I know Larry, and this must be an honest question from Larry. He would never disrespect someone. I got back into pool around 2011 and Gabe was not in current discussions. I have since read comments in threads, but do not know why he dropped off the top radar?

Is that a fair question?

Learned what from what "experiences"??? Gabe got side-tracked somewhat and kinda went walkabout for a while. He helped his dad(Bob) make cues for a while, moved to Alaska and has recently remodeled an old house in Ks. He seems to be enjoying the game again from talking with him.

There was absolutely no need to mention Tony's situation in reference to Gabe being out of the game unless he had specific knowledge of Gabe having a similar circumstance..

This is how ****ing rumors get started.

If he doesn't want red, he needs to correct that sh*t most ricky-tick. Gabe is one of the good guys in pool, and doesn't need this crap.

Yep. Known him since he moved from Wichita down to Tulsa back in the '96-'97 timeframe. Been around him a lot, played golf together and have watched him go from getting the 6ball from the locals to being one tough cash getter and US Open champ. Gabe's ok for sure.

That was kinda part of the "walkabout" i mentioned. Not the smartest move on his part but he got thru it ok and seems to be good-2-go now. I think fixing-up that house back home got him re-grounded and ready to play again.
 
Wasn’t he being investigated by the feds for selling fake gold coins to pawn shops? Heard plenty about it on the rumor trail before actually seeing an article about it.

Edited to add: there are plenty of nice criminals. Just cause he seems like a good dude doesn’t make someone innocent.

I don't think counterfeiting gold is a federal crime, money yes, gold? IDK interesting idea.

I’m not up to speed on the difference between federal crimes and non-federal crimes. Either way, it’s all the same to me.
 
I don’t think his venture into gold mining had anything to do with it. He went from being a US Open winner and top player, to barely even cashing in events for many years. Before the gold mining endeavor. Who knows.
