why is it so hard to be left alone in a pool room.

When I first moved to Texas, I went to a few poolrooms. I started with the ones near me and was left alone completely. I didn't even stay an hour. Then I went up to Skinny Bob's and in a matter of minutes, players were asking me to gamble, asking if I wanted to play in the weekly tournaments and asking to join their teams.

Now, I've been here almost six months and I have a nice bunch of friends, a new girlfriend, I'm on two pool teams and I'm heading out of town next month to play in a tournament. Why can't they just leave me alone!

Weird...you most be in quite the social pool room. Places I go people are pretty much left alone. It was almost a year of me going there regularly before I really started to get to know people.

Hmm...now I'm wondering if it's me and my off putting personality. Haha!

It is you. I am sure of it.

what's the deal with the non-stop eyeballing, gawking, solicitations to play leauges and gamble and play for fun to gauge a person's speed, interrogations and other absurd forms of people not being able to mind their own business?

you don't need to know my full name or where i live or why i don't have a cue or how long i've been playing or if i know this guy and that guy.

no, i don't want to play in your league. no i don't want to play for a soda. no, i don't need you to sell me a cue.

i guess this is what it feels like to be a beautiful woman in a sleazy nightclub.

Make sure your zipper is up and if it is, I'd use the situation to improve my mental focus for when I'm in the finals and have more than my opponent watching.

If you see a beautiful woman in a sleazy nightclub be warned. There's something there not so beautiful. Watch your wallet.

Kermudgin hermits need to buy their own tables. And stay home with them.

That's how I handle it.
