Why is Tascarella the Bushka expert?

All the best,

Interesting. With a change in color, might also approximate the gold bands. Not exactly, as the gold bands were alternating length long ovals. But, still, could be pretty close.

All the best,

Sorry the photo is blurry loo at the right side .

Everything has to be scaled down , Pete said 1. 1/4 length total length .
The far right side is what is the pattern

Anodizing aluminum is very easy .
First time knurling anything this small, I was worried about lining up on such a small Diameter.

The knurling tool is so big that use a mirror on the back side to Alignment. for the tool height.

IMHO I think 10% or roughly 120 would be lost.. But between us that specialize in those cues, its purely speculative. I saw a Gus get shattered on a pole, so anger happens.

At least once a year something pops up that boggles the mind. The fancy birdseye / birdseye Spain blank, the titlist I saw, the one for sale in Cali (posted here) and a few I was sent pictures of that are totally original and unknown.

You would be surprised at some of the buyers, and finders.. :)

Joe -

I know that you have gotten frustrated at times with this thread, but I think it is has been enlightening.

The topic that hasnt been mentioned was how many survivors are out there. In this thread we have heard about so many getting damaged or destroyed, and being in an era that they werent really high dollar. Years ago, I was taking some lessons from Ray Martin and we got into a discussion of his Balabushkas, he sold one for ALOT, and he said he had bought another one in Florida either at a garage sale or pawn shop for nearly nothing.

Assuming that the 1200 number is correct, would 600 survivors be accurate? Does the notes that Tascarella got from the estate have any of that information?

Thanks,

Ken

One last thing.. nothing here frustrates me, just proves my point about the internet. BTW I don't thing every cue is in his notes, especially those he might have just done because they were quick tournament money. However talking to Pete about the things he threw away, because at that time no one cared, that would have been more interesting.

BTW last time I talked to him, he had George's desk for sale...

Don't forget to give the lumberjack and sawmill credit too for cutting up the tree which provided the wood.

It's his quality control in choosing who he got the supplies from and what he did with them that makes his work stand out. A Corvette and a Yugo both have 4 tires and an engine. One is more valuable than the other.

Really??? Lumberjack???

You're telling me Gus Szamboti and Burton Spain are the equalivent of a lumberjack? You really have no clue do you?

So, if Gus was working in GB's shop buding the blanks, you're telling everybody here tbat it would still be a 1 man shop???

You compared GUS AND BURTON to a Yugo......unbelievable the amount of ignorance in your post

Joe - guys like Glenn, big collectors. How many cues do you think can be accounted for in these collectors' inventory (and how many unfinished)?

We toy'ed with the idea of a Balabushka and Gus Szamboti registry at one time. I guess if you could quick survey you would get an idea. But if people continue to insinuate that there are a large number of intentional fakes, the number will always be up to interpretation. Also there could be a large number of accidental misidentifications, either positive or negative.

But it would be a start...

Abstract thinking frequently evades some people.

Agree. I don't think though, that the Glenns' and Lucky would want to disclose the details of their entire collections. Let alone a bunch of others. It's a nice thought, but I don't think we'll ever know the exact number, though we have a pretty good idea.

Just a small list of the myriad of problems you would have....

- Anonymous
- What to do if someone posts a cue, like you see here, authenticated, and it ends up in a thread calling that particular cue into question. Whos side do you take? Do you pull it down?
- What do you do with cues that WE know are not Bushkas? Do we tell the people?
- Whats the criteria to post? Do you need to have a letter? From who? Top 3 or 4 respected guys?
- Difference of opinion, within those 4 guys, or God forbid the posse's or friends of those guys, again as you see here...

At the end of the day, because of the pettiness of people, and they all want to be the "smart" guys, or seem like it, you can't run around defending every post or photo.

I have way more constructive ways of using my time, then to bicker with people who, for their own need to feel worth something, will tear an industry down, as long as they get their 15 minutes.
