Why isn't TV Mike a Gold Member?

The question I have is how come billiardnet.tv doesn't have hundreds upon hundreds more subscribers that pay a measly 9.99 a month?

I can only speak for myself, so I may be the only one that feels this way, but my reason for not having a subscription to your site is solely based on your association with Jason Hunt. I admit that is a petty reason not to buy what is probably a good product. But the first time I ever heard of you was that video with him getting his hair braided. He drives me absolutely crazy.

Yeah I never heard that before. In this game you meet a lot of people and travel a lot. Jason actually let me stay in his room at the Derby years ago before I ever even met the dude so just like everyone else I suppose people have good things to say and bad things to say. Jason isn't associated with me outside of the fact he stayed with me and my girlfriend at the time in Detroit for about a month hitting up tournaments/action and learning to play one pocket at hall of fame in action. Thats when we did that video interview thing which was just him going on about who knows what. I just hope most people say good things about me because that is how I live my life.

I was letting this thread fall to the old pages.
Now it got bumped again and some are not quite on point.

His income is primarily from offering memberships to viewers to offset travel and production costs. Also offers cue raffles in person while streaming. His business plan is different from Big Truck, Lenny and CSI. No PPV. He travels are usually in a van by himself.

Good Post Lyn. I'm here quite a bit (maybe more than some folks want) But, I don't recall TVMike pitching anything in the MF. There appears to be some guy is mad about something else, so like a teenage girl, he's going here to cause more trouble. Kind of ridiculous. I don't care who is a Gold Member. It's up to folks to chose what they want and don't want.

I'm not a member of TVMike, but I've met him at a few events, and he seemed like a good dude.

It's threads like this that make you wonder why he would ever buy a Gold Membership. I certainly would not after this. This thread should have been pulled long time ago.

Because of this thread, I have received some PM's regarding some of Mike's past dealings with people on AZB. Business dealings. Some were not so pleasant. I wasn't surprised.
I stuck to the OP and didn't air them out in this thread.

I used to browse most of the different forums on this website almost daily. About 2 years ago I cut the for sale section down to about one visit a month for obvious reasons.

Last year I cut the cue and case forum down to about one visit a month.

If this main forum keeps heading towards soap opera status I am probably gonna have to cut my visits here substantially.

The opposite sex aint got shit on most of you guys when it comes to b*tchin...moaning. Whining...etc etc.

I've been researching a few things on AZ lately...as much as 12 years back....
...nothing has changed...hell, some of the best threads are flames.
...and just as many enjoyable threads, percentage-wise.

So to me, AZ is like a library...al the crap in the world is in there...and all the good stuff, too...
....so find the good stuff and stop dwelling on things you don't like.

Life is a lot like that also

Some truth to what you say but here lately you gotta wade through a lotta crap to get to the good stuff.

I dont mind seeing a good flame war once in a while.....actually some of them have been quite humorous but this constant whining is getting monotonous.

You make a good point, I can remember some pretty good flame wars that were entertaining. This one is just chicken shit. And kind of embarrassing from the pool world perspective. We don't have too many options for watching good live pool, whether it be for free or paid, so to call out one of the few who do provide a great service at a fair price because something wasn't as free as advertised is just a dick move imo. I get it that the OP was chaffed because the SVB stream wasn't totally free, but I doubt if TV Mike was a Gold member he would be spared from this dbagery.

Maybe its because I live on the water in Clearwater, Florida and I'm about to start boarding my house up for Irma, but this just seems a little juvenile to me this morning.

If I, as the owner of East Podunk Billiards, invite you to play for free today and you show up tomorrow and someone else owns the room and tells you you have to pay, would that be a matter of semantics?

The pool room hosting the Jayson / Shane match tried to stream the event themselves. They advertised the stream as free. They were unable to do it so TV Mike stepped up. If my memory serves me, he advertised it as "members only". That stream requires viewers to join his group. Think posters here are unhappy with the wrong person. Would it be better if no one streamed the match?

Mike's a nice guy. He does a lot for pool. Specially for those of us who do not travel to watch. He deserves to at least cover his expenses. Isn't that reasonable?

It is a reasonable price that TVMike charges per month...
...like I said, there were semantics involved...and communication could've resolved it.
I watched Mike at the DCC 14.1 in 2015...he deserves every dime he gets.

I agree with all of this EXCEPT Mike should have come here and clearly stated the stream was no longer free. Then we would have zero drama. Mike didn't make the initial mistake but could have with a simple post, cleared this all up.

I would estimate I buy about $300-$400 of streams a year. DCC, US Open and Accustats MIH type stuff and will buy the up coming Chohan-Dennis O rematch. To date I don't subscribe to any of the streamers but this could change. In short everyone expected a free lunch. Didn't happen and thus feelings were hurt. Pretty simple concept.
