Why Kamui?

If you don't mind my suggestion, you might want to give the Tiger Emerald a try

Sean, thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to order my new OB Classic shaft with a Moori if possible and then swap out my KB for an Emerald on my 314-2. Since I'm more familiar with the way that shaft plays it will be a better test-bed for me to compare with.

I am in need of a new tip and I am trying to decide between the Onyx and Kamui Soft. I have heard great things about both.

I just got my new Gary Johnson custom cue and had him install an Onyx on it.

Amazing. It just flat holds the chalk. Been playing with it for almost a month and I LOVE it.

At the beginning of a session, I'll chalk up with a nice, smooth basecoat of Kamui .98 and then just gently add some Master after every shot to keep my PSR intact.

I've yet to miscue this month (it will happen eventually, tho. We all do.) and the cue is showing no wear. I'm also playing better than I've played in many, many years.

Extremely happy with Onyx.

yes all the charts are different

I wasn't implying that,I know you would only post the truth

But if you compare hardness charts like Pooldawg too Mullers there are discrepancy in them.

doesnt that suck all the tip hardness rating charts are different.
No problem Bad choice of words on my part .
I am not offended and I hope I didnt offened you...................

Manged to get in a few hours with my Kamui Black Medium yesterday. Josey cue. Maybe I just prefer the stiff hit of the Josey anyway, but so far I really like this tip.

I use Kamui black soft because they are super consistent, super durable, easy to maintain, and they spin the ball well. My first experience with layered tips was with the Sniper, and I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, out of 6 subsequent Snipers I had installed, at a total cost of around $200, I only got 3 that played like the first one; the others either blew out during installation or shortly after. They were all done by pros, usually at the DCC each year, so I knew better than to attempt a self-install. Anyway, I decided that $60-$70 a tip and the hassle that went with it just wasn't worth it, so after trying Moori and a few others, I finally got a Kamui black and installed it myself. I'm on my third one now with zero problems. They don't perform quite as well as a good Sniper, IMO, but a blown out Sniper plays about like an Elkmaster, so I am happy I made the switch.

Kamui . . .

Yeah . . . I'm here to fix up my buddy Wang with the works! He wants play pool . . . Yeah . . . give me three boxes of those Kamui Super Softs . . . and three cases of that Kamui Chalk . . . and some of those scuffer tools . . . what - $9,000 - I could build a condo for that.

My father was stupid. He worked in a bank and they caught him stealing pens.

How do you actually buy from that site?[/QU If I remember right, you just had to have a tax number. I already had a business, so, it was no problem. I know you can save 40% on many pool related items on that site. Free shipping and super fast.

I have decided that the benefits of a layered tip do not outweigh the premium charged for them. I used to use kamui black mediums and softs. They seemed to glaze over pretty easy so I started to experiment with regular tips and have not looked at layered tips since. I am quite happy with milk dud tips by pooldawg8.

On my 3rd year playing with kamui tips and have never had one to glaze over. Also, 14.00 a year is very cheap for a quality tip.

I am currently using a Kamui Medium and I have to say I have never disliked a tip as much as this one.

I absolutely love Moori Mediums however and I will be switching back to that in a few weeks.

My question is, why do so many people choose the Kamui over the Moori? I know it supposedly stays the same hardness throughout but I have found it mushrooms easily and it produces a hit I don't like. Granted I am using an ob-1 shaft so the hit is dead already but I like the feedback that the Moori grants.

never seen a kamui mushroom. never
