Just had my WH completely redone by Darren Hill. It came out GREAT !! He was fantastic to deal with and even better quality. I decided to go against the grain and NOT keep it all original. It was NOT in the bsst shape when I dropped it off.....

I wanted an everyday player, with some history :) It's a real head turner at league !!!

Workdone by Darren:

Thinned the handle
Replaced the leather wrap
Replaced the joint (3/8-10 pin)
Sanded and refinished entire cue (the veneers really pop) (saved the "Williie Hoppe signature)
Replaced the WH decals
Replaced the bumper and butt cap for a more more "modern" look
Added OB Classic Pro Shaft that matches perfectly
Also he had to "fix" the tenons to ensure this cue last for another 60 years.

Basically, it is now a WH turned into an every day player, with a few upgrades.

But, I'm unable to post photos..... It always fails on me here, but I can post photos in ebay, craigslist, and just about everywhere but here. Is there a trick I'm not aware of to get photos uploaded here ??
 
BHQ was nice enough to say he will post my pics.

Thanks Kev,,, yeah, the Spain might still be available...lets talk :) it certainly would be a good piece to add to your Chicago area pool cue collection... Actually, I believe it is a MUST !!!!
 
one file wouldnt open

i dont know what the heck the difference between a kb & an mb is............
but they're normal size now

SWEET!!! The original never looked so good. I'd like to see what was done to the pin and joint.

I could NOT be happier... I"m pretty picky, the price all cuemakers must now pay for my having a cue refinished a few years back by Hercek... I kinda expect that from everyone now :) I was amazed at how this cue transformed....quality was TOP notch.

Darren Hill does some fab work, and has a full scale shiop with all the "fixings" like temp and humidity control....

That was the pic that would NOT open....

Basically, the old joint was just falling apart, not to mention the 60 year old glue was on it's last leg.

He put a white delrin (or other type substance) as the joint to match the hoppe ring, with a 3/8-10 pin that matches up perfect with the OB shaft.

I really like the white joint with white hoppe ring.... kinda cool.....

Thx. The Hoppe was my first "real" cue. I bought it brand spanking new around 1970. It was a nice cue but at 18oz it was way too light. Plus the butt was way too thick. :smile:
 
It's alright I suppose...
If you go for that kind of perfect refinish thing.
Not everyone likes their cues to come out perfect!

must have been one of the "light" ones, mine was stamped with 21 oz on the forearm, but after Darren whittled the butt down, it's a now slender 18.6 oz..... feels good too....

How much did that set you back in 1970??

There are a few companies that sell old billiard stuff, including "replica" decals for old cues, and they match perfect. They got'em for most of the oldies :) This particular decal only set me back $30

I had no idea. Thanks. The messed up decal has kept me from buying a couple. Like you, I wanted one that looks new. I will reconsider next time.
