Can I use Windex to clean a carbon fiber shaft?
Predator recommends 90% rubbing alcohol. It's about the same price as Windex. I pack a small spray bottle as mentioned above. It's also good for cleaning my hands. Can I use Windex to clean a carbon fiber shaft?
Walmart (or other vendors) have Zeiss brand wipes. They are about perfect for the job. Decent size and pretty inexpensive. Like $3 or 4 for 80 of them.
Yeah those are the ones. I got the cheap 80 pack (more cost per wipe though) because I figured the big one would go dry before I used it up. I only generally use 1 wipe every few play sessions.
I always stick about a half dozen in my case and end up giving most of them away. When home I use a Bounty paper towel and 91% isopropyl alcohol.Yeah those are the ones. Those appear to be wet wipes -- water -- not alcohol like Predator recommends.
At one point Windex could be had with alcohol or ammonia. You had to watch which one you grabbed for what you were using them for. Brian.AW's are the thing to use. Some window cleaners have ammonia which might damage cf if used all the time.
I know for a fact that using either one is not a good alternative for moon floss. At one point Windex could be had with alcohol or ammonia. You had to watch which one you grabbed for what you were using them for. Brian.
Yep. I cleaned the fireplace glass with the wrong one. Put it back up. No problem. a few hours later, it just shattered into thousands of pieces. who knew...At one point Windex could be had with alcohol or ammonia. You had to watch which one you grabbed for what you were using them for. Brian.
They can be either. I bought a couple of boxes that size in Zeiss brand, because they don't sell alcohol based wipes in Germany..Those appear to be wet wipes -- water -- not alcohol like Predator recommends.
You can distill the 90% even further with salt. Think I read it here. Anyway I've been doing it for years. Gotta be close to 99% - going by smell.Long ago a cue maker stated that he only recommended 90+% alcohol be used to clean shafts. With 70% alcohol you are rubbing 30% water into wood fibers- not a great mix over the long term as some of that water is being absorbed by the wood fibers immediately- I have stayed with his theory for over 20 years with excellent results.

I'm a fan of IPA lens wipes but any kind of wipe with at least 70% IPA or higher will do
