Windy City Cue Show Reviews

Big Chris, thank you so much for putting this on...

I had a great time, so many awesome cues/displays, it was overload. This was my first cue show I have attended, I spent most of the day there. It was nice to put faces to all the names I have become acquainted with over the years here on AZ.

The vendors, cue makers, were all very gracious and spent time answering any and all questions I had, and didn't pressure me into anything, which I appreciated. I met Joel Hercek, and Joe from BBC had a bunch of Spains (including the EOL's) on display, very cool.

Videographer/Player Angel was there, as she usually is at most of the Chicagoland tourneys/events, spreading her smile around, and was delightful to talk to.

And lastly, I want to thank the fella's at Cornerstone, who turned me on to a cue that I never would have thought in my wildest dreams I would have brought home today...great guys to deal with, and very fair. A great addition to my humble collection. Thanks guys!

Chris, can't wait for next years show...Great Job!

Nice meeting everyone today!

Cheers, Kevin

Windy City Cue Show

Congrats on your dream cue! But where's the pics??????????

I'm betting everyone is having way too much fun still.

Well just like Kevin said, it was overload.

This was also my first cue show so I really didn't know what to expect. the 4hrs that I was there seemed to go bye to quick. I was there with my gf and she was amazed at the cues that were on displayed.

I want to thank Big Chris for putting all this together and all the people that were kind enough to bring out there cues. I had the pleasure of talking to Mr Sptiz, Mr Woodworth, Mr Hartman, Mr Castillo and Mr Geschrey. All were helpful and answered any questions the I had. Being new to this it was a great feeling and I had my eye on a few cues but didn't pick any up.

Yeah, nice cue you picked up Kev... bring it Thursday so we can shoot a little. Now, are you gonna at least mention to the AZ crowd what you picked up?? Or do I need to spill the beans for you? ;)

Back in 1992, I ordered 2 shafts from Craig Petersen for my JW, and he was great to deal with on the phone, and delivered my shafts in short while, and were great. He even joked on the receipt that one of the tapers was "wimpy" because I asked it to be just a tad thinner than his standard. I received them in the mail, (COD), and 4 days later he passed away.

I always wanted to pick up one of Craigs cues but never thought I'd be able to afford one, or find one that I COULD afford for that matter. I spied a nice older CP at Cornerstone today and they treated me very fairly...I offered a couple cues on trade that they gave a fair value and worked out some other details, and before I could catch my breath, he was shaking my hand and saying congrats on your first Petersen.

It hits great, and I think it's all original, down to the tip. It's not the fanciest, but I love it and yes RJ, it's coming to league Thurs. Awesome, I finally got my Petersen...

only took 19 years ;)

I too had the pleasure of going to the show, and it was also my first show. I have never been sold on the value of a custom cue, or really understood why someone would ever buy a cue they weren't planning to play with, but this show gave me a real appreciation for custom cues. There were some truly beautiful cues at this show that looked more like art work than a playing cue. I was really able to appreciate the work that had gone into making something like that, and gained a real respect for what was done with those cues. There were also some very nice playing cues there, and I was very glad to have a chance to hit Jacoby's Hybrid edge shaft in my search for the correct LD shaft for me. I have to say that it had a very good feel and seemed to present with pretty low deflection. All in all it was a great show that I look forward to attending in the future.

On a humorous side note. When I hit the Jacoby shaft, Dave was very pleasant and spent some time talking with me about the technology that went in to the shaft and cues. I got home from the show and got a phone call from a friend who plays a little who was eager to ask me about a cue he just got today for his birthday. He was reading the info from the cue and told me that it said tiger everest (which was of course the tip), and that it said Jacoby on the cue, to which I responded, oh those are great cues, I was just talking to Dave Jacoby today. He seemed a little dumbfounded at that answer until I explained that I had seen him at a cue show today. Just one of life's fun moments.

Im in my hotel room right now and im beat. The show was awesome. I met several new AZers and saw a couple i knew, and it was a real treat. Great people, great cues, great show! We left and went to Cris's billiards, but we had to leave due to some dude trying to steal my jeep! Lol. We went back to the Pyramid club and played pool until about midnight. Its been a long, but fun day. Thanks Brent, John, Rick, and Pat. It was nice meeting/seeing you fellas. Heres a couple pics i took

What a show!
You think there's a lot of cues at Valley Forge? Over 36 booths were filled with some of the biggest cues on earth.
It was the the nicest show I have ever been to hands down.
Wait till you see the pics.
Hats off to Chris Jenke, he did a great job.
It was great to see everyone again.

Great time!!

Well I FINALLY got to meet many AZ folks that I have only known through the key board and it was terrific! Every single person was having a great time, the cues were awesome to say the least. One of the highlights of the show was the work by a local Chicago maker named Tim Prince. I have said it before, his execution is flawless and his cues are truly stunning. He is not 'unknown' here in the windy city but he got some seriously deserved attention to a wider audience at this show. Thanks to Chris Jenke for doing a bang up job!!
