No, he scratched on the break in Game 1; that's an error in the TPA.
gotcha. yes they both scratched on the first two racks. but would roda's scratch have been an error, cb was kicked into top left corner?

he had some luck in the leaves. roda didn't see many (any?) open balls between 1-1 and 8-2. tough hill to climb
chua v biado should be closer

chua has played two crazy good position shots that i hope make it to the highlight reel. high difficulty level
Really tough to pick a winner between Big Ko and Chua, and I'm a big fan of both players. They're great representatives for our sport.
They've each won multiple major titles, but not a Matchroom major (unless you count the World Pool Masters invitational, which Ko won in 2023). Ko Pin Yi has won the World 9 Ball Championship when it was hosted in Doha, Qatar, so you could argue that he's the slight favorite in crossing the finish line. FargoRate also puts him as the slight favorite (840 vs 825).
Chua has been on fire though, and he was successful on 10 of 10 breaks in the semifinal. I don't think he's really been tested in this tournament, and you could argue that he's due for his first Matchroom major. Will he hold his nerve? It should be a heck of a final, and we are privileged as fans to have these two fine players matching up for the Hanoi Open title this year.
(I'll put it out there that I think Chua will win!)

Ko Pin Yi walked out first, and then came Johan Chua. Johan immediately walked over to Ko to shake his hand before sitting down. That was nice to see.
Photo opps before the match. Phil Yates, Jeremy Jones, and Karl Boyes in the commentary booth. Phil said both players have the same birthday, May 31st, 3 years apart with Johan being 32 and Ko being 35.
