WNT Hanoi Open 2025, Vietnam, Oct 7-12

As per post #372, made by CTRAN, one of the commentators for the Hanoi Open, the match did not have a dedicated ref, only an area ref. As Bob Jewett noted, an area ref only watches a shot when asked to do so by one of the players.
Skyler had to know he moved the ball. He hit it with his cue.

Much as I don't like these two picks, Matchroom is sticking to its rule that players have to participate in big WNT tournaments to be eligible for the Reyes/Mosconi. That rules out SVB, Filler and the Ko brothers. So MR had to scramble a bit.

MR wanted a native-born American on the World Team at Reyes and Frazer would have wanted Shane. But he went a different route. The Sky pick can at least be justified based on his Mosconi history.

As for AJ, Frazer seemed to suggest she was nervous about the pick given his youth, and that it was Bustamante's choice. Maybe so, but Bustamante almost certainly knew what MR wanted.

Still, Manas will be surrounded by Yapp, Biado, Duong and likely Chua. So still a helluva team.
Yes, and if you substitute Ko Png Chung for Manas, this team might just be unbeatable.

Even the dream "Rest of the World Team" would probably be overmatched. I would go with:

Fedor Gorst
won 2025 DCC Master of the Table, 2nd at World 9ball, 2nd at US Open 9ball

Josh Filler
Won DCC 9ball, European Open, Estonia Open, Longoni Open, 2nd at Las Vegas Open and Bucharest Open

SVB
Fell a couple of racks short of winning the recent Florida Open, in good form

Neuhausen
Hottest player on the planet right now, with wins at the PLP and Peri Open, and 2nd at the Hanoi Open

Labutis
Won the Hanoi Open and got bronze at the European Open. Very much the man in form.

That team would surely compete evenly with the Asian team. But, I can't see any way that team will be the one chosen.
