Women vs Men

The thing I have noticed, if you take any good female 9ball player, and take a look at her one pocket game, it is just a total joke or non-existent. Do the same for a strong male 9ball player, and odds are he can play some very sporty one hole. In fact, are there ANY strong female one hole players?

I don't know what that means, other than I hope these women focus on broadening as well as their games in the future. There is a whole nother world out there ladies -- one in which you'd be very welcomed to join.

I also wanted to note, one hole seems particularly suited to a woman if you ask me. No big breaks or big strokes needed, just precision and patience. It seems there is huge opportunity there for a woman to tune up and play very well if you ask me.

I've never seen Allison Fisher, Karen Corr or any woman play 1 pocket. Has anybody seen them play 1 pocket? I would think Allison and Karen would be quite good at the game.

for sure they can beat anyone in a tourney.
for money there are over 100 guys who the top girl cant beat.
there is nothing wrong with the way the girls play i think they play
good.
but not close with the top men.
Who's the better player depends upon what game you play. In 14.1, I have no doubt that either Jasmin or Jeanette can kick your butt...and the butts of other strong men players too. :D

thhttp://www.starbilliards.com.ph/ For those that never saw the Chinese girls/women gamble against top men go to Star Billiard Center in Manila and watch some of the videos of Fu and Sha Sha playing 10-ball even with some top Pinoy players in races to 21 for the cheese. They do just fine gambling. Like Jay, I believe Meng is a ball better than the above two, but not sure if she gambles. Johnnyt

So these girls beat top Filipinos in long races for money? They must break like monsters.

It wasn't caught on video unfortunately but back in 2008, Karen Corr created quite a buzz at Derby City in the one pocket division. They interviewed her a bit about it in her later insidepool interview. She and Allison both made quite a few waves in that event.

i have never played 14.1 maybe thats why?
how about any game i play
8 ball
10 ball
9 ball
banks
1 pocket
good luck with that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, if you're capable of beating the ghost, then all you need is just one ball to drop on the break.

Bartram's ghost is different than other's ghost. BIG BIG difference. His ghost is probably a pussy. My ghost has fangs, claws, and can shit rack you. I'm just messing around but I think it is a bad example to use the ghost.

If you want to balance things out, take the break away. Also, I'm almost certain that some table's the ghost is almost unbeatable unless you have a monstrous break and play like Efren.

I don't really think the top players from Asia will come to the US to play anytime soon, as all the big purses for women are in Asia. Johnnyt

I mentioned this topic to my wife last night and she came right out and said - "you know why men are better than woman at pool? It's because men are so single minded." According to her, we are better at focusing all of our attention on a single matter. While a woman is constantly thinking of multiple things/tasks that she needs to complete. Of course her understanding of men is largely based on her understanding of me and I can attest to the fact that I can be very single minded when it comes to certain subjects

I do think there is something to this though. That's not to say that top female players don't overcome this -- they obviously do. But generally speaking I would think this would be an issue that woman would have to deal with more so than men.

Don't shoot the messenger
:nanner:
I think she is right to a certain degree.
I think if women change their approach to the game slightly they will be able to compete with the men. It really doesn't take that much strength to go 4 rails for position, but the women barely attempt that. If they take more chances in practice instead of being a little robotic it will help their game.
IMO.
