The state of pool here compared to the rest of the world is slipping away..

Well, the rest of the world is getting better. It had to happen at some point. I think it's a good thing to see the mother lode of young, super talented players playing close to perfect pool. They're making it more competitive, and the US is going to have to step up to develop some American talent. We had it easy for a long time.

Tevez lost his mojo after he hung the 10 ball mid final. Could have gone up two games.

I saw the ball rattle right when I turned it one. Didn’t see the shot, just the rattle. Could have been a replay. But to your point he looked kinda weak at the end, which I understand why now. Hard to shake that off & 3 foul loss. Still happy days 2nd in that field is amazing.

Yes, all day today. 10,AM 12 PM, 2 PM and 4 PM Pacific Daylight Time (Las Vegas). WPBA also stream side table matches.

Tevez took down a murderer’s row of champions on his way to the final - Morra, Alcaide (twice), Biado, Appleton, Shaw. No shame in his fading a little bit at the end. He should be all smiles after this amazing result.

... Did anyone catch the Kelly Fisher gaff when she was pulled from commentating? She was chatted away uncontrollably then one of the guys finally talked over her to announce a commercial break. Poof she was gone... He even commented about it when they came back on air.. Kind of funny and peculiar at the same time. ...

Yes, they interrupted her at the end of Game 5 because a commercial break was starting. But I don't think she was "pulled" from commentating. At the start of Game 4, Mark White said she would be there just a couple more racks because of how busy she was. And that is what happened.

Interesting comparison of Tevez and Scewczyk's road to the final. Tevez consistently scored at a mid-800s level assuming his opponents played at their normal speed - in other words, out of his mind and at a #1 in the world pace. His opponents were also much, much tougher than Scewczyk's were.

Scewczyk played pretty close to his rating (800 vs 810 - actually a bit under his rating). Tevez played drastically higher (835 vs 760).

With 1100 games and a 760 rating, adding 114 games at a 835 performance should increase his rating by somewhere in the high single digits. Maybe a tad more since the new games have higher weight than older games.

if tevez is an elite carom player shifting focus to pool, with his old games coming from a period when he mostly played carom, that 760 fargo might be a bit skewed.

well, these numbers are wrong because the Excel logarithm function uses log10 and not the natural log. Redoing it shows an even more insane performance by Tevez (high 800s). He went 72-42 against opponents with a weighted average rating of 797.

I suppose I deserved it for trying to cut corners by using Excel
