Damn good prize money (100K added to the entry fees) if that's really what's being paid out. The players have been disappointed in the past with the 100K guarantees in Vegas. Turned out the total purse was 100K. We shall see.

Shaw is not dark horse. He still is a favorite in any major rotation tournament.

If Kaci is playing, he would be the #1 dark horse.
Other dark horses and still very long shot (not in order)- Alcaide, Zielinski, Lechner, Yapp, Skyler, He.
Konrad no chance- I would take unconventional Szolnoki over him anytime. Chinahov is overrated. Sanchez-Ruiz was promising junior champion but so far nothing much to show in major tournaments -still more famous as Alcaide wingman
The younger Filipino batch (like Aranas, Chua, Ignacio) promised so much but seriously underdelivered in majors. Yes they go deep into last 8 or semis but lifting trophy is another story. I would also hazard a guess that they have slightly higher gear in money games than tournaments. Most successful is Johann Chua who won All Japan twice. But I wouldn't consider All Japan a major now cos in recent years, it lacked international field especially the Euros. Raga is only one of the young batch who can really win this event but he is not playing. :D

overall a good assessment, but chinakhov isn't overrated as a pool player, he's just not as good in rotation games. in 8-ball or straight pool he's one of the best.

Looks like a great event and with little, if any, dead money, the matchups should be excellent form the start.

Wishing the best of luck to all these fine players.

Looks like he won a qualifier in Puerto Rico to get into the tournament. Doesn't have much of a record beyond this that I can find.

Might be as close to dead money as you'll find in this tough field. I predict Shane easily advances into the 2nd round where things will get a lot more difficult.

Wow, Filler missed long spot shot type shot on 10 ball
Sky leads 2-0 and breaking

Filler, after getting straight on the nine in the second rack and missing the ten and two break and runs by Skyler, Skyler is up 3-0. That'll be difficult to overcome in this alternate break format, especially if Skylar keeps playing like this.
