World 10 Ball Silence

Wow, the timing may have been off. Well, a major group of players with ONE VOICE is for it NOW. We have a few from other countries expressing their interest and support to what we're doing and some are even flying-in before the year ends.

Any idea if Barry has an opinion on what's been going on?

Sorry for more bad news. I found out last night that the other British players had still not been paid and neither had Niels. All is not yet well in pooldom.

One Spanish player received an e-mail saying that his money would be in the bank today,...it wasn't!!

The other received an e-mail saying that the bank account number that he had supplied wasn't correct!!

The WPA's own event later that same year in Spain was an unmitigated disaster. Clearly feeling threatened, the WPA used the leverage of not allowing

I hasten to add, and I kow that you will back me up Doug, the 1999 disastrous World Championship in Spain had nothing to do with those who are now officially organising and promoting the sport of pool in Spain.

The Confederacion Espanola de Pool came into creation after and because of that infamous event

It certainly was another regime that was responsible for that debacle.
The present organisation, the CEP are probably the most effective in the game.
To mention a few beside your goodself and Lady Aprile - Fernando Requena, the consummate sports politician. Juan and Asce Dominguez, who did so much to make the game grow. Don Carlos and Anna tireless workers and all the little guys and girls.
I salute them with - a Mexican Wave.

Still no confirmation from the Taiwanese and other Asian Players but we'll find out later on in Bacolod.

Like I said before, those who will make a lot of noise will be paid first.
Here's some noise for the guys who aren't capable-PAY THE BALANCE OF THE REFEREES' SALARY!!

RefCieloLopez.jpg

WOW! The refs were paid in installments for services rendered more than a month ago?!? I feel sorry for all these refs like Cielo Lopez (pic), Bertong "Dungis", Allan Soliman and the rest who's still waiting for the bread crumbs. They got nothing to do with the prize monies that will be coming from sponsors and they should've been paid a long time ago from the organizer's revolving funds...

One Spanish player has been paid today, the other one will be paid now that we have corrected the bank details.

Referees only received 5000 Pesos of 15000 Pesos agreed salary. Follow-up calls, to inquire about next payment date, not being answered.

No info if Taiwan players have been paid. Any other players not paid?

IMO the Referees are equally important as are the participants to a tournament.

I hope the Organizers will not just try to pay the Players and ignoring the officials who has a lesser avenue to seek redress.

Has anyone reported this to the authorities?

Aren't there laws in the Philippines that cover this?

Niels has the green on his account (already for a week or so).

No need to panic, this is the normal asian way of paying. I am working in a world wide buisiness and this is very commen. Has nothing to do with not having the money or bad organisation.

funny that you said that Berry. don't tell me that the Japanese promoters of the longtime prestigious Japan Open also took them more than a month to pay up a field of more than a hundred participants yearly. or let's say the SMB 9BT or Guinness 9BT does the same. those are asian events as well, so dont say that sort of thing is common or normal. because that statement is false.

anyway, are you asian by any chance? coz if my memory serves me correctly, it took you more than a month to reply in this thread while there were a lot of pissed players not getting their money on schedule. not to mention that they weren't given notice or a definite timetable of payment. wow, if that's what you call as normal business in Asia, then I suppose that the Asian Market had already collapsed for more than a decade now. :grin-square: :grin-square: :grin-square: :grin-square:

anyway, I guess you don't have any answers either a month ago and was just playing safe til Neils got his share. is that the way you handle your business in Asia? keep your clients hanging? nice business ! :grin-square: :grin-square: :grin-square:

I don't think that this is common at all. In any case it is ludicrous to not pay the players for a sporting event on time and have them all worrying about getting paid.

Don't tell me that Neils and others weren't sweating it a little especially after the payments didn't come in on time.

Berry van Leeuwen is not Asian. He's from the Netherlands and I think is connected to the WPA/EPBF being the trainer of the Dutch Youth Pocket Billiards Assoc. Is that right berry?

You are all too funny! :grin-square:

My name is indeed Berry van Leeuwen but I don't work for the EPBF nor the WPA. I work for the Dutch Pocket Billiard Organization as a Youth Pool Coach.
So, no strings attached, money wise! I have been critical about the EPBF and the WPA but with fair (I like to think) statements. Not 20 pages of crap that a tournament will not happen and that there is no money. I was willing to bet the tournament would be there and that the money would be paid in full.

@ Hail mary shot, I was not talking about other Asian tournaments but I do a lot of buisiness in Asia and payments are difficult. (Is this carefull anough)

@ JB Cases, Niels was not sweating at all, he has been in the pool scene long enough and knows that the WPA keeps his word.

@ Bandido, Indeed not Asian and not connected to the WPA only a simple National Youth Coach!
