I am passing on my NBL Commissionership to our new Commissioner, Mr. Ronnie Nathanielz. I have fulfilled my duties in laying down the groundworks for the league and I am ready to meet the other demands of our pool lives. I will however remain of service as a Consultant to the league.

Congratulations, Ronnie! This new baby will definitely be in good hands.

My opinion is that with the current situation regarding overdue prize moneys from the last WPA sanctioned event, the timing is a little bad to be making any rulings regarding players. Get my drift? This is no time for anyone from the BSCP or WPA to be throwing their weight around.

I would prefer to hear something from the WPA on what they are doing to protect the players interest who played in the WTBC. That would make a little more sense to me. I'm sorry if my statements offend anyone, but I remain an advocate for the players. Always have been, always will be, and that's the name of that tune. Now if a player gets out of line, as you know, I will also be first to call him/her on it.

I just feel that someone must speak up on behalf of these players, and not just focus on making accusations against the various organizations. I don't really care who produces events in the Philippines, but my God, pay the players who spend money to come there and play in them!
So, does anyone know if Darren's been paid yet?

That's the best news I've heard in a month! Hopefully this means Niels was paid as well. It was a long five weeks, but as they say over here, all's well that ends well.

It is a credit to Yen that he found a way to get the money to pay these guys. I know he is not as well heeled as KT. Hopefully it will be a lesson to him to have all his ducks in a row in the future. And there is a lesson here for the powers that be at the WPA as well.

For an event to have credibility the system must work smoothly, and that includes the paying out of prize money. Enough said.

Congratulations! If you know anybody else that hasn't just have them post. That increases their chances.

Reminder to Yen. Please pay the other half of the referees salary.

Why can't pool have its own World Professional Pool Organization. Well, that question was back then. We already moved on making one, first locally and now in the process of an international level pro org.

Why can't we all get together and form our own World Professional Pool Organisation and not need it to be under the IOC since Pool isn't an Olympic Sport anyway? We can police our own ranks and work on our future.

Have you ever had a sense of deja vu, Edwin

Before you all start leaping up and down with excitement, this was from August 1998. The one and only World Professional Championship did happen in 1999 with Efren taking the title.
The WPA's own event later that same year in Spain was an unmitigated disaster. Clearly feeling threatened, the WPA used the leverage of not allowing the European players to take part in The Mosconi Cup.
With the event only days away and TV schedules in place Matchroom were forced to give in. But they did come to an agreement to merge the
two WPCs dropping the professional name.
Time was on the side of the WPA to lead the players back into the wilderness. But I think that if Barry had not yielded to their demands then there would have been a lot of rich pool players around today.
today.
