World 14.1 VIDEO: Hohmann vs. Hopkins

Jorge,
I've told you a thousand times that I think what you're doing is great for pool.

This was a great watch, and I love the commentary you and John did (makes it better to watch, IMO). John might have found another one of his callings in being a commentator.

The only critique I can give you is that I feel the camera gets zoomed in and out too much. I would have rather it just be still the whole time -- for instance, when Hohmann shoots that wired stack-combo I can't see what's going on with the entire rack because the camera was zoomed in on the cue-ball.
I just personally think it would be better (until you get more cameras out there) to keep it locked in position, except for rare occasions.

All-in-all, you did a great job, so did John, and this was one of my favorite online watches, ever!

Jorge,

I agree with AZE - if you would like to see the best camera angle for filming 14.1 (IMO) check out John Schmidt's 245 ball run DVD - the camera is stationary throughout the run, and the 14.1 afficianado gets to see everything that they are looking for. 14.1 is a game where you need to constantly look at the balls to develop patterns and strategy, and sometimes the camera does drift away to close ups and it makes it a little difficult to watch at certain times - especially in between some of the racks - example - we can see Thorsten looking intensely at the break ball and thinking about how he wants to contact the stack, yet we can't see exactly what he is looking at. That is the only thing I saw that can be improved in the future. All in all, you did an awesome job. Thanks for going up there and providing us with this service. We appreciate it!

Hohmann-Hopkins

Thanks. I was there but didn't watch all of that particular match. The video and commentary are terrific. I could even see the chalk spots on the object balls. The 14 ball is a shot people will talk about for a long time. More, please!:)

Beautiful footage. I'd sorta put the site on the back-burner cuz I thought "oh, this is just 10-ball and interviews" but I see now it's got it all. I shoulda given it a more thorough look. I loved the quality of the vids and I hope to see lots more 14.1... there are more coming right? If not, at least you put up the best match first =)

Is there anyway to make the video display fullscreen? The quality might suffer a little bit but since it's so high quality to begin with I think it would be okay.

Thanks to all of you for your comments.

There are seven matches in all from the World 14.1. And this first match isn't the only one with a 100+ run. Six more to come including the final between Ortmann and See.

The Full-Screen button is available to registered users. All you have do is register, it's still free.

Great news!

i like the trick shot on the 14 ball about 1/3 way into the match, wow i wish i could read the pack like that.

Great video, and great play by Thorsten. (I stopped watching after his run, since I already knew the outcome of the match)

wow that was a great video, man after watching that I feel like a banger. What a great match, Thanks to who ever made that happen, with the internet and video like that on-demand it will be great for pool. Easy access to matches is the best, I hope they build a business model that will generate the $$$ to keep it going in the future.

Imagine having 1000's of matches in the next 10 years to watch online that would be great, I enjoy the new matches as much as the old ones-its cool to watch the player from different times and how they play and different styles etc.

i didnt read the Accu-Stats tread I know they have done alot for pool and I wish them success in hte future but their business model of selling videos is history-not a knock but a fact, online to watch live or pay to download like the music industry is the future.

i registered myselve, but can't get the full screen button.

any helps on that?

I thought that my software was up to date, but couldn't get the full screen button.

I used the software link on the website and up loaded that version. Button shows up at bottom right of the viewer, similar to the youtube full screen button.

Good luck:D
