Congratulations to Mary Rakin of the USA for winning the championship again. I saw her picture for the first time in the front page of this website and she looks Asian. I know she is an American citizen already, otherwise she would not have represented the USA. Does anybody know what her racial background is?

She's Filipino-American...just like me. Best of both worlds. :p

I like what was written about Mary Rakin in the article on AZ's main page...

...Asked if pool would be in her future she replied: ?Yes, but not until after I finish school. School first, then pool.? Pressed as to whether she would be knocking on the door of the WPBA after college she grinned: ?Yeah, I think so!?...

Looks like she definitely has her priorities straight. Notice, she plans on finishing college. Good for her. I'm looking forward to hearing more of her in the future.

Michelle Rakin, her older sister, is even better than Mary. She also is putting her education first. It is my opinion that Michelle is probably in the top 10 women pool players in the world and Mary is not far behind. Interestingly, Mary is only the 4th best player in the family according to their USPPA statistics.
Her twin brothers are rated 122 and 95, Michelle is rated 114 and Mary is rated 90. If all of the women pros had a rating it is unlikely that more than 20 would exceed 100.

You go girl!!

Super proud and happy for Mary!! Congrats. As I said, the whole family is super talented and they work hard at their game. Not only do all the kids shoot great, the dad shoots a pretty sporty 1P.
