World Cup

I can't believe Chang missed that two ball. He is a very accomplished player. He could have hold his nerve in a very crucial endgame. He will have nightmares for days.

Superman Gomez redeemed himself with some pressure filled spectacular shots. I thought he would choke towards the end but Dennis actually looked more nervous than him.

While they are going to be riding high on emotion after their win over Taiwan, I think there will be a let down for Orcullo and Gomez. It's so incredibly difficult to maintain that level of play while under that much overt pressure from the home crowd. China has, IMO, a very large edge going into the final. There is no pressure on them, at least not like there is on the PHI team.

Edge to China...though I'm pulling for Orcullo and Gomez.

Yup, I saw him miss that 2 Ball. CRAZY. But I guess there is a little bit of advantage for the home team here. The pressure in a cheering crowd that is not on your side might feel a lot different for team Taiwan than when the are all cheering for you. Hats off to them for holding up like that I would say, any lesser players would probably have entirely collapsed! Anyway, even without the crowds, in the end between top players on that level, it usually comes down to the one very stupid mistake that brings one side down and makes the other the winner. There are just no second chances given on that level.

But of course congrats to the winners and now for the great final coming up! I will watch the whole thing :-)

@JoeyA
Have a bit more time again for pool, so I thought now is the time to be abit more "interested" again in everything around the great game of pool.
Oh yes, we should hook up sometime with the RZB guys. Still have not found all the friends from that time, neither all the nice people I bought cues from that will most likely also be in this forum ;)

What a match! UFC marathon to keep me awake until the final. Up all night, tonight. Okay by me. Nothing to do until 5:30 PM tournament Sunday.

I can't remember ever watching a more emotional pressure packed macth in all my years in pool. The finals should be another match for the pool history books. Johnnyt

PS: I wonder who the first promotor in the US to put a tournament in a mall will be?

that was really a thrilling match, a superb break and the table is quite open, though a choke on the two ended the game. Nerve! nerve nerve!

I was also doubting the ability of Gomez but he did handled well his pressure...

Go Philippines!

Was the 2-ball that Chang missed easy? I watched a saved file of their match, but it cuts off right after Taiwan breaks at hill-hill.

Yes. He used his auto-extension after the break, and then called the other extension. He basically talked himself out of the shot. As they say "paralysis by analysis".

7-1 china's leading. haha
i think roberto is not a great player as he can't handle with pressure at all especially during the final of 2007 world championship.

That crowd had no respect for China the last 2 balls. I'm glad China won.

China wins 10-5.To bad the western world can't bottle the excitement of the Asian crowds and bring it over here.
