Brought back by popular demand! I have just run twenty more copies of this lengthy match (nearly ten hours total) between Ronnie Allen and Danny Diliberto played in 1988. The bet was twenty grand - REAL MONEY! Pretty sporty back then. The match lasted three days and they played three out of five sets, each set a Race To Five. So it's a lot of One Pocket.
It was the last hurrah for Ronnie, perhaps the last time he played at such a high level. I would estimate he played at about 90% of his top speed, still better than anyone else at that time. Danny was still in his prime as well and had been house pro at the Golden Eight Ball (in Phoenix) for over two years. He knew the table (a Brunswick Centennial) and was comfortable in this setting. All this made for some great pool (some shots you will rewind and watch again and again) and even better conversation.
We captured it all on videotape, with a professional crew brought in from Los Angeles. Converted now to DVD, you can see the match in it's entirety. It consists of five DVD's (about two hours each) and I pay for mailing costs on this one. You can order through my website jayhelfert.com. Please add $3 if ordering thru Paypal. That's their commission. Thanx!
P.S. You will have a chance to compare Ronnie's style with Efren and maybe get a glimpse of why I think he was the all time greatest One Pocket player.
