Agreed on looks, but Lechner plays an intricate and very mature tactical game that Tyler has yet to learn.I agree.
I was speaking mostly in terms of play style and looks.

Good point. Pretty chalky so far. Even Grabe over Ouschan barely qualifies as an upset in my books. By Fargo , with Albin at 807 and Grabe at 790 and coming off some very fine play at the World Cup of Pool earlier this month.First upset of tournament as Grabe knocks out a bookmark favorite Albin. 1 upset after 13 matches is stingy compared to World Cup of Pool. 4 inch pockets this event probably has something to do with it.
Yeah, the fact that this match has become so defense oriented does not favor Jayson. That said, Niels got super lucky in rack 10 to win a safety battle in which Shaw executed admirably. Shaw down 6-4, but can still prevail with good play from here.shaw is really failing in the safety play. came out guns blazing with a 3-pack, but is down 5-4 after neils having outmoved him
Long pot success is generally a very good measure of how well a player is playing in both pool and snooker. It means their eyes are in. "Regular" pots are prone to errors that arise because of other factors such as forcing the shot, cheating the pocket, being over ambitious with position and so on. Players are more likely to keep it simple with long pots. It’s funny that they’re reporting “long pot success” as if it’s a snooker match. Most of the time the “long pot success” has been higher than the “pot success,” which just shows that it’s a meaningless distinction.
Five of the six players in the first session had 100% long pot success. And the only one who didn’t, Grabe, won his match!Long pot success is generally a very good measure of how well a player is playing in both pool and snooker. It means their eyes are in. In terms of stats, 100% is unlikely. So of all the players with near 100% for long pots, it's likely that their overall pot percentage will be a little lower.
It's a tiny data so it's a little early to call it a poor measure. It's also incomplete because it doesn't include the non-100%ers and their overall pot success. I'd be surprised if "pot success" didn't include long pots. A higher long pot success doesn't mean that long pots are not included for the overall stats for reasons already mentioned.Five of the six players in the first session had 100% long pot success. Pot success/long pot success
Lechner: 97%/100% (Winner)
Fortunski: 100/100
Ouschan: 96/100
Grabe: 97/80 (Winner)
Shaw: 93/100
Feijen: 97/100 (Winner)
Five of six players had a higher long pot success than overall pot success. So they’re not counting “long pot success” in the ”pot success” numbers. This is the first time I’ve seen them report these numbers, so they’re just trying something new, but it’s pretty clearly a poor measure.
Not to mention it could be 1 ball or maybe even zero balls. It's a tiny data so it's a little early to call it a poor measure. Probably fairly inconsequential anyway in a race to 7.
Sounds better, though. It’s funny that they’re reporting “long pot success” as if it’s a snooker match. Most of the time the “long pot success” has been higher than the “pot success,” which just shows that it’s a meaningless distinction.
Oops, yeah you're right.I'd be surprised if "pot success" didn't include long pots. A higher long pot success doesn't mean that long pots are not included for the overall stats for reasons already mentioned.
