World Pool Series, 10b Grand Final

This cuescore schedule view though is nice for getting a fast view of upcoming times and whatnot versus having to go scroll through a chart.

Its like night and day, watching this 10 Ball versus that 9 ball crap last week at Turning Stone (although this TV table is playing quite tight).

Filler vs Ralf Souquet in the finals.

Filler is a beast.

Philippine nation might not want to try him at DCC this yr.

He beat Gomez too.

Chua has no quit on him. Lost the first set and won the next two sets ( two days apart ).

I want to see him step up and play the Pinoy king Orcollo or Canuck Alex P. Then I will be impressed. I would love to see Ralf take this one down. He has taken on some of the best in the game so far, just like he used to do on a regular basis. What a great comeback story that would be!

I heard Ralf lost his first match … quite impressive road to the finals !!

From the flowchart, Souquet's road to the finals:

2. Mike Dechaine 6-11
3. Michael Leahy 11-0
4. Omar Alshaheen 11-6
5. Denis Grabe 11-6
6. Jayson Shaw 13-11
7. Mike Dechaine 13-9
8. James Aranas 13-10

Total -- 78-53 (winning percentage 60%)

Based on their FargoRates (812 Filler, 790 Souquet), Filler is 67% likely to win the final match.

Again, from the flowchart, Filler's path to the final match:

1. Bye
2. Eric Lim 11-1
3. Alex Kazakis 9-11
4. John Morra 11-4
5. Alex Kazakis 13-5
6. Ruslan Chinakhov 13-8
7. Chris Melling 13-8

Total -- 70-37 (winning percentage 65%)

I really enjoyed the commentary which i often silence on streams.None of hem were trying to just come up with anything to say to avoid dead air or trying to force themselves on you constantly for egotistical reasons as is often the case. They let you enjoy the game without being distracted. They were all mellow and casual imo. In addition Daz was hilarious at times.

I do know all of them for years so perhaps im prejudiced.

Go Daz, Jason and Caroline!.

So Joshua Filler wins the all-German finals...great shooting...
....and great shooting for Ralf....he still has fuel in his tank.

I guess the rest of the field are Germanic depressives

Filler's a magnificent player whose achievements are mind blowing for a kid of 21, but I'm guessing he's not yet ready to top Alex or Dennis, two of the greatest that ever played this game, in a long money match. SVB, Shaw and JL Chang would likely be too tough for him right now, too.

... but the kid's on his way and, as a fan, I'll celebrate the meteoric rise of any young player in our game. Every great new player enriches our sport and makes it more exciting to watch.

To some extent, Jay, Filler has taken the Filipino route to developing his pedigree in that he loves action matches. No doubt, he'll be doing the action thing at the Derby next week. All the tough games he's made have played a big part in how quickly he's reached the point where he must be counted among the game's elite.

That said, though, he's not at the very top quite yet. Who's to say whether he'll get there at all, but I'm sure we'll enjoy watching his journey.

Joshua Filler is certainly one of the world's best players under 25 years of age.
But let's not forget that in this WPS he never had to face Orcollo, Kaci, Shaw, Aranas, Biado, Dechaine, and Gorst....all of whom are Fargorated at 800 or more.
Did Filler benefit from an easy draw? No, but he certainly was lucky to avoid having to face any of the above mentioned players. Let's see how he fares at the Derby.

So, to list Filler's complete path to victory:

1. Bye
2. Eric Lim 11-1
3. Alex Kazakis 9-11
4. John Morra 11-4
5. Alex Kazakis 13-5
6. Ruslan Chinakhov 13-8
7. Chris Melling 13-8
8. Ralf Souquet 17-11

Total -- 87-48 (winning percentage in games 64%)
