Embarrassing performance. :embarrassed2:

And I drew first blood. I was up about 6-0 and had some balls open and miscued. Then I thought I would outsmart Stevie Moore in a safety battle and I opened with a few intentionals and my third one did not quite make the rail. Then when he let me to the table again I was shooting over a ball and fouled on it. Very bad.

He was a very nice guy and though he said he didn't know 14.1 well, he bumped a few balls into break balls nicely. Very polite. Kept calling me sir.

Stefan Cohen is the number one seed in our group. He had me down 52-0. After my opening break, I did a real good job of racking. I didn't foul once while sitting in the chair, so up til then, my performance was a bit better than my shellacking by Stevie Moore.

He missed at 52 leaving a ball hanging and a nice 4 ball pattern to a break ball that a monkey would have had trouble screwing up. You can imagine what I felt as I got up there. "Don't screw up; Don't foul; Take your time...." I was able to stumble to a 35 ball run with only a couple of circus shots. Though I lost, I felt pretty good about putting a little something together on the big stage.

Today I have Earl Herring and Bob Jewett.

Earl is going to be mad because he had Bob 80-27 yesterday and Bob ran 72 on his way to victory. He said it tied his high run for the year and was his highest tournament run. Marop had a 41 or so playing Carmine Lombardo.

Later,

Too bad u are not playing John, you deserve it to be Stright pool world champion ! Guess u remember me ? We met in vegas in may finally :smile:

I thought John was going to play. That is a shame that a talent like that isn't playing in this event. What has become of the pool world in general?

From what i understand. John broke his arm doing none other than Dirt Bike Riding !!!

and yeah what a shame we dont get to see "Mr 400" playing His Game !

and whatever happened to Danny Harriman, he is not thier either.

this years card is just chock full of surprizes !

Steve

Later,

I think the Frenchman got a little nervous with Dennis's run. Dennis made a really great shot to get into his 3rd rack. Way uptable 2 balls left on the table, Dennis made a long shot and drifted a couple of feet into the rack area for ball in hand on the break ball for the next rack. Beautiful shot!

Marop had a great run also. I thought it was about 50, but he says 42 or so.

I only wish we had stayed to see Bob's run, but it was the only chance Dennis and I had to play this year, and we missed a great run in doing so.

Steve Lipsky is playing great as usual. Really great to watch. His nickname is Stevie Patterns and after hearing that I had the melody from Davie Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier in my head...
"Stevie, Stevie Patterns, king of the green frontier."
