It wouldn't matter or should I say, it won't count. Did you see how sparse the crowd was even though a Filipino was playing?

What I was saying is that, will the the government re-organize their Snooker and Pool body. Makabenta will be surely grilled for this slump.

Please see inserted text and let me know if you have questions or comments:

stats that say something or nothing.

...Is europe the continent with the most top poolplayers? No
Is the eurotour the hardest tour to win? Maybe, only because we got nothing to compare to in the US.
...my semi's prediction: shane, wu, peach and ralf ;)

There's still an ongoing Senate hearing and this WTBC could be a plus, or a minus to Makabenta, depending on this tournament's success or failure.

Bandido or Spunik cold give you a clearer picture about the state of pool in the Philippines, hope they show up here pretty soon...

So far, we've got Wu Chia Ching, Mika Immonen and Nick Van Den Berg safely
through to the quarterfinals. Wu defeated Shane, 9-3, Nick prevailed over Filipino
upstart Jericho Banares, 9-6 and Mika Immonen whipped Mark Gray, 9 games to 6...

Sad news for Yen, another Filipino lost...

Marlon Manalo lost to Niels Feijen, 9 games to 6. That leaves Demosthenes Pulpul as the last Pinoy standing, he's leading Yang Ching-Shun, 7-6 as of this moment.

The Korean Dragon is left alone to carry the torch for the USA as he ditched Fu Che-Wei, 9-5, to earn a spot in the quarterfinals...

during the ba?ares - alwi match, SVB was interviewed by Ted Lerner. He said that he doesn't care who he plays and that he will bring home the trophy. Now that he lost to Wu, I wonder which trophy he was referring to. :grin-square: Honestly i find that statement of his a bit cocky. But then again he's the mighty SVB.

its more confidence then cockyness i think. Without confidence you don't have anything to do there. at that level, its all between the ears.

anywya,

Wu vs Nick in the finals, eventhough i'd prefere mika vs nick/niels in the finals !

Wu is no slouch. 2005 world champ at age 16.

Actually he said that he is "looking forward to bringing home the trophy". What he meant was that he knows whoever he plays is going to be good and so it really doesn't matter. I didn't read into it that he was being cocky, just projecting confidence.

Wu is NEVER an easy game. To show the speed he did at 16 to win the WPC makes him one of the most dangerous players at the tabel whenever he plays. If he catches a gear then forget it.

Charlie Williams came through to the top 8. Charlie has been steadily coming through this year. I think his game has stepped up over the last year or so. it seems like Charlie is coming with more wins these days. Pretty sporty with as much as he carries on his shoulders.

Pulpul is one lucky dude..He beat Yang for the second time! There is something about the little guy that makes the other players miss!!

Shane played really poor and missed several easy shots

I would actually like to see Mika pull this one off!!! But would also be happy with Niels too. 2 World titles in a year would be great!

PulPuls survival still doesn't make up for the poor attendance and tv viewing. only diehard pool fans (which arent alot) would spend their time watching matches, even if it isnt their fave player. it is still different when you know that the top players from a host nation are not participating.

you dont expect much support in a tournament where your top guns are absent. still a big factor. but anyway, I believe those top guys are earning much better (money matches) than the ones participating in the tournament. they could have been more happier. sad for fans however.
