Burn all jump cues

Would you let someone you were gambling with use the EZ Jumper tool?
If you ran a regional or independent tournaments would you allow the players to use EZ Jumper?
I think it should be allowed. There are a lot of short in hieght, short fingered non-flexable pool players that can't jump well w/o it. Johnnyt=old, short, short fingered non-flexable pool player that could use the tool to get it up:eek:.

It's just a mechanical bridge. I don't see the problem. If someone is worried about any advantages that can be had from that chunk of plastic they should probably worry about more practice instead.

i have to say i agree with beer 30 hell i have tried to use that thing and i hate it i can jump better without it anyday seems to make me turn all funny to use it lol

I have more of an issue with all the hybrid jumpers out that barely resemble a pool cue anymore.

Not to be hypocritical, i do own a jump cue, but it's made of wood and looks like a cue. It also requires some knowledge and practice in order for it to work. I also can jump with my full cue if required.

Some of these new jumpers look more like a golf club and allow someone to easily jump over a ball right next to the CB with little or no prior practice.

You should not be allowed to purchase a pool shot.

I guess I wouldn't care. Players use cue extensions to reach far balls and bridges to reach over obstructions. The game was not meant to be a test of flexibility or height. You still need to make the ball and/or control whitey.

How about this though... if you already have decided you don't object to jump cues, would you allow someone to use Dr. Popper to jump? :P It's not even a cue, it's like some thin rubber baton.

Although I am not a jump cue hater, I do sort of feel what greenman is saying about purchasing a shot. Purists say you can just use a regular cue to jump anything if you just practice enough and click your heels together and wish real hard. But we all know that's not exactly right. So most of us have gone out and gotten our jump cue, or have cheaped out and not bought it (but wish we owned one). Now there's this thing. What if it helps everyone, not just short people? Do we all need to go buy it? How many pieces of equipment will a player be forced to buy before he is a modern fully-capable shooter?

I say no, jumping is a skill that should have to be learned and practiced. Is it our fault if someone is short? I know a guy who jumps and doesnt even place his hand on the table, he is about 5'5 and jumps his ass off

I do the majority of my jumps with the bridge hand floating in free air and my elbow tucked into my side.

If this were a upscale tourney--no, unless it included disabled people
If this were downscale tourney--sure--unless rule already in place states otherwise
If this were local bar action--sure

Use of EZ-Jumper tool

If a person is worried about someone using a device to assist them in making jump shots, then that person should not have given the person a chance to shoot. Practice more so the EZ-Jumper doesn't get a chance to reach the table at all. PRACTICE....PRACTICE....PRACTICE. I've tried it and really, it wouldn't matter to me if they used it or not. It's a great sport. Telling someone no you can't use it would be like telling NBA players, no, you can't wear those sneakers. I think it's rather comical at times to watch how some people contort themselves to use it. I play on 3 different leagues and some of the things I've seen people use are truly amazing.

main cue: Tim Scruggs Calendar Cue
back up cue: McDermott G1906
Jump cue: Jacoby G 10

I for one would have no problem with this jump bridge at all. The thing i get in trouble for where i am is jumping with just my shaft on balls that are very very close ( chalk with or less away). From what i see msot dont care what you use until it affects them or a horse they have bought then they get all bent out of shape.

So I would also be allowed to climb onto the table in order to reach a shot? And I would be allowed a variety of aiming devices such as lasers, protractors, etc? May I also guide the ball into the pocket with my hand on occasion?

Although I do not even own a jump cue (yet) I like all the new gadgets. Innovation is good for any sport, golfers have a dozen or so clubs.

I played a guy a few weeks ago that is really good with his little jump cue so several times I cinched him up on a ball forcing him to kick and he missed every time. You just have to play to your opponents weaknesses whatever they may be.

Now a guy who can kick and jump is a scary player indeed. a
(Bigshooter intends to be that guy)

I have no problem with someone using the EZ Jump tool. I could take a good bridge and do something similar.

Yeah but don't you want to do that on EVERY safe, whether the other guy is good at jumping or not? :)

As long as the tool (jump bridge in this case) is legal, then they should be allowed in any competition.

Unless a tool is specifically mentioned in the rules, it shouldn't be allowed. An E-Z jumper is not a bridge, at least not by it's intended use.

How is it not a bridge ?

It's exactly a bridge , in fact if it was slightly taller you could use the stock rake for the exact same purpose. If your allowed to bring your own bridges with unique shapes and sizes , which you are , then there's no difference at all with bringing a jump 'sized' bridge.

Now if 'you' (not you specifically) don't feel bridges of any kind should be allowed , then thats a different story.

My recollection is as long as a pool accessory is being used the way it was intended by the designer, it is legal.

For example, a jump bridge is intended to facilitate a jump shot by elevating the bridge height... and is therefore legal to use.

Grabbing a couple of books and stacking them up on the table in order to elevate your jump cue is illegal.
