Ok, I got into a deal with Don Sherman (sureman183) trading my ebony/snakewood Paul Mottey for a fancy, well fancy to me, SouthWest. I sent my cue to him and the day it arrived he shipped the SW out to me. The SW arrived today and I have to say that I am astounded. This thing is brand spankin' new. He got a year and half old Mottey with a scratch in it for a brand new SouthWest.

Don, if you read this, thank you so much for making this happen. We talked on the phone a few times and Don was extremely personable and easy to talk to. The trade went as smooth as silk and I'm honestly at a loss for words. Man, this is a gorgeous cue. I am definitely going to the pool hall tonight.

If anyone ever decides to get into a deal with Don I wouldn't hesitate at all to give him a thumbs up. I read a lot of posts about him on this forum and all of them were sparkling, well, here's another one.

Thank you again, Don.

Not a problem on my end at all. First, it wasn't a $3500 Mottey it was a $4,000 Mottey. Second, it's not an $1800 SouthWest it's closer to $3200 on the after market. Third, I used that Mottey for 2 years and there was a pretty big gouge in the forearm, which I of course showed photos of and explained before we even sealed the deal *AND* which Don is paying to have fixed out of his own pocket (Sorry about that, Don) and this SouthWest is brand spanking new. Not like new condition, it's new. I don't think I got screwed at all. All things considered it seems like a pretty even trade.

The important thing is that you are happy with the cue. Don thought he could make a small profit by trading and you got the cue you wanted......seems like a great deal for both of you.

Don is a great guy. I have done a couple of deals with him and he is at the top of my list of guys that I will look to trade with or buy from.

Congrats on the new cue.

Congrats, mully. Sounds like both you and Don are happy...which is all that matters in the end.

I know a guy here in D.C. that traded away his Scruggs 4-pointer for a level 4 Joss cue from the early 90's. Long and the short of it is - he loved how that Joss cue played when he first tried it out, and was dying to get his hands on it. He offered his Scruggs in a straight-across trade deal. His idea, his deal.

He's happy with his Joss, and stomps all over people with it around here. He hasn't looked back once.

While most of us wouldn't do something like that, it wasn't our call to make. If he's happy, then I'm happy for him.

Sounds like you found the SW cue you were after...and, once again, I'm happy for you.

Enjoy it, sir!!

You know, that is exactly it. I've wanted a South like this for a long time and now I've got it. I honestly think that we both got good deals out of this. And again, I can't say enough good things about Don. Great guy.

I believe he said he would post some "later tonight". And, since he is in Japan and it is tomorrow there, you need to wait a bit. :D
