wow talk about an Fleabay Scam!!!

I dont think either one of them knew what they really had.

The guy that gave him the cue might have scammed the seller just because it has Balabushka's name on it. Now the seller thinks he has something worth a couple thousand but wont get crap for it without a picture and its more then likely only worth a couple hundred as it is a production model bushka.

Here is the reason I think this. most of the people who "acquire" these production model Balabushka cues by being given them or some other means other then buying them think these cues are the real deal. My first decent cue was a Balabushka GB-1. I knew it wasnt the real deal when I bought it but it was a great starting cue. Now I have a Frey and have a Primo Custom on order and am out of the production cue territory.

Now here is a good story and I swear I didnt make this up. I shoot in a local tourney on occasion and I noticed a guy there had a Balabushka GB-2 (production of course). Some old guy who said his daughter won it in a tourney and sent it home to him. Well I talked to him about it and said it's a decent cue and costs around 400 new. Well the guy looked at me and says "No way, this cue is worth a lot more then that, its worth a couple thousand because it's a Balabushka". I told him to look at the cue. The cue was brand new. Balabushka died over 30 years ago and there is no way that he made this. I then explained that after Balabushka died, the rights of his name were sold to Adams Cues and the production series of cues were made. That's when he then drops this bomb on me. "That's right because Adam is his son" At that point I just shook my head and walked away.

I figured it was better to let him bang balls with a 400 dollar cue then think he has a piece of billiard history, but I guess I was wrong. There was no reasoning with him. He was old and I guess just set in his ways and didnt want a young guy like me (who really does know better) inform him.

If that sells I'm eBaying my 6 custom Balabushkas.
Don't bother asking for photos though, I'm not going to be here the rest of the week.

Whats even funnier (sadder) is, I have had that same conversation myself about 4 times. End result is always the same too.

I think this seller knows what he has and is looking for that sucker to buy his POS cue. He says that he post pictures by using a scanner or ripping off someone else's photos. If I want to get some cash out of a $5000 cue I think that I would want to buy a camera for a few hundred or get someone else to take the pictures. The sad part is he is not really making any false claims so I don't think you could get him for fraud.

I think it was Seinfeld that talks about old people in one of his acts. Try to talk to a older person and they will say that they just didn't get off the boat and have been around the block a few times. They know everything and you cannot reason with them. But once they get ripped off they complain about people always taking advantage of old people because they don't know what they are doing.

deluded cue owners

i gave up long ago trying to enlighten Adams reproduction cue owners. seems they have been sold a bill of goods and simply won't admit they may have been taken.

Sir...Seinfeld is a comedian. YOUR statement reeks of personal bias and cynicism. The same thing you said can be said of many young people too.
SO...you'd best qualify your statement with, "SOME older people (and SOME younger people) just don't know what they're doing, and appear to know everything."

I’ve seen 12 – 15 authenticated original Balabushkas and to the best of my recollection I did not see a signature on any of them. Did he ever sign his cues?

No, George did not sign his cues.

But then Louis XIV didn't sign his chairs either
(sorry, I just couldn't help myself)
