No one talks about it. Really? There are dozens of threads on AZB that deal with this subject and there is relative unanimity on the point.Unless there is last minute reprieve or repentance/ban withdrawal by WPA, number of players like Biado who played in unsanctioned ACBS/WPA events will be banned after World 8 Ball Championship (2-8 Sep 2024) about 2 months from now

The ACBS -- Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports -- is the Asian member of the WPA, on the same level as the BCA and the EPBF.... I cannot pass judgement on ACBS because I know so little about them but, on the surface, it appears they act as a colleague of WPA, willing to do some of the dirty work with which WPA has becoming increasingly associated in the last two years.

To see Carlo Biado, one of our sport's greatest role models, treated this way is upsetting.

With few exceptions, and other than when the major championships coincide, most feel that the organizations need to get out of the way and let the players do what they have to in order to maximize their income. Yes, we all understand that because most of the pool organizations do not even try to work together, some of them are inclined to take extreme measures to protect their own interests, but we all ache for the day when the organizations, at least in part, work together to support the players.

Agreed, the issue could hardly have a higher profile among those passionate about pro pool.People on AZB are talking about it. Yeah no one is really talking about it.

Nonetheless, the interests of the players, the event producers, and the fans have largely been ignored as the dirty politics of the recent past continue to play out. In the end, the voices of those who have any stake at all in pool are not really being heard. They are all hostages to the whims of some of pool's governing bodies.
We all lose if Carlo Biado's involvement in tournament play is reduced. The fact that the crying out of all parties hurt by the limiting of participation of the game's giants in elite events continues to fall on deaf ears is disturbing.

Until about two years ago the Asian member of the WPA was the Asian Pocket Billiard Union – APBU.
I have not seen a good explanation of why the APBU was ejected from the WPA and replaced by the ACBS. It seems that the APBU was headquartered in Taiwan and the ACBS used to be the Asian Billiards (English Billiards) and Snooker Federation (ABSF). Mainland China seems to be heavily involved in the APBU and heyball became a WPA discipline when the ACBS showed up.
Or at least that's how it seems to me.
If you look on the APBU website, you can see the letter they sent out at the time of their expulsion from the WPA. Not a pretty situation.
Agree here. Ch8b is WPA's only worthwhile asset.ACBS is clearly the tail wagging the dog WPA. presumably because of chinese money (heyball). in the process they're not only losing biado, but just about everyone
