I just want to wish all of the WPBA players a safe trip to Hollywood, Florida for this week's event. I am headed back to Florida today and I will be there on Friday and Saturday, hope to meet some Az members while I am at the Hard Rock. The field looks as if it is going to be very strong, defending champion Karen Corr will have her hands full this year. My early, blind prognostication: GYK all the way (as always).

Hey David

I hope you are right but her play in the USA of late has not been stellar. If i had to pick someone besides Karen or Allison it would be Kelly Fisher. Im looking for good finishes from Tracie Hines and Alice Rim. Ive been told secondhand that Jeanne Seaver may not be playing.

Karen Corr is a tournament soldier and competes as often as her busy schedule allows. I like the fact that she plays on the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour against anyone, showing no fear. I've seen her knock down MANY tough contenders when competing against the men.:o

Though her tableside demeanor is intense and calculated, she's a delight and very charming on the rail. I like her Irish accent, but I must admit sometimes I have trouble understanding her when she's speaking fast.

Because of her numerous TV appearances, she is very recognizable at high-profile events, always surrounded by a crowd of autograph hounds and fans. She never disappoints a soul and poses for pictures whenever asked. What a great ambassador not only to the ladies tour, but to pool in general.:)

If I was handicapping a la Racing Form and read Karen's stats compared to all the other horses in the race, I'd definitely throw her into my trifecta, as she's got a good record to win, place, or show.:D

Nostroke, thanks. I hope to have a good finish as well. Keep your fingers crossed for me. :)

I'm really looking forward to this event, as it is definitely one of my favorite venues. What a beautiful place!

I would love to meet some AZBers as well, so if you're reading this and you'll be there, please come and introduce yourself to me if you figure out who I am. :)

I'm not quite so bearish on Ga Young Kim's chances, though she is having a lackluster year on the WPBA.

Let's not forget that she was the victim of an unconscionable error in the seeding at the BCA "playpool.com" Open last month.

Jasmin Ouschan entered that event having a) won the gold medal at the World Games, b) finished 3rd at the last World Championships, c) won two of the three events at the last European Championships, and d) having scored a top ten finish in each of the only two WPBA events she had ever competed in. Somehow, though, somebody felt this wasn't good enough to make her deserving of a seed.

The victim, of course, was Ga Young Kim, who drew Ouschan in the first round and lost a nailbiter 9-8.

At WPBA Florida, Ga Young will get a draw more befitting of one of the tour's highest seeds, and I'm guessing she'll make it count. I predict a top five.

Alice Rim

She's in here somewhere. My advice would be for anyone going to print out these pics and compare them to every single person at the Hard Rock....if you find a match it is probably Alice Rim. :p

I also hope to meet some of the AZer's there.

Landshark...you need to make an appearance at one of the tournaments this year. Too bad it won't be this one, but I definitely hope you can come to another.

Blackjack...I hope to get a chance to talk to you.
