first off - the WPBA booth wasn't set up until after play had began on Thursday...
Steve Tipton - he is a brillant MC but falls below the line as a TD...he had a man names Mark with him this time...he was always available, kept the tournament board outside updated at all times and did what was necessary for an event to keep on schedue..(a lot of reracking of balls)..a job well done...
too many of the ladies are playing shots left-handed and either missing the shot or running out of shape...the cost is a game to you opponent..
with 3 balls left...not enough are getting out...the play to cinch the shot and then take whatever shape is left...this means that each shot gets harder and harder and they have to make great shots to get out or play safe..(the good players always do the extra and make these easy outs)
crowds were sparse of Thursday but were about 90% full for Friday and Saturday..didn't stay for Sunday...
too much black was been worn by the players...more colour please...
watched the Wendy Jans and Xiaoting Pan match...thought that Jans had a chance to go futher in this event...but Pan just played so consistent..her break is so good..she very seldom has a dry break...this is very important when playing alternate break format..this was a great match to watch...both players shotting near 90% and Pan won 9 - 7.
met Leanne Amable from Toronto...was friendly, funny and just a really genuine person to be around..she had a bye in her first match...lost to Tiffany Nelson 9 - 3 and 9 - 7 to Miyuki Sakai
do not like the new format...Saturday night just to be so good everyone fighting for their lives...now everyone is just trying to make it to the last 16..not the same feeling...
shots of the tournament..(imo)...Kim White against Jennifer Barretta at hill hill...Kim was hooked on the 6 ball...she jumped over the snookering ball and sank the 6 and ran out...
Melissa Herndon against Allson Fisher (the first time)..she shot the white ball into the rail and jumped over the snookering ball for a good hit...(crowd woke up after that hit)...she said after, 'I thought the ball was going to jump up and hit me in the face'...a great trick shot...
players that are over looked by the fans- Tiffany Nelson, Hsin Huang, Miyuki Sakai and Kim White...
for the AZBilliard ladies...Sarah Rousey...too much thinking..Melissa Herndon - wins the matches she should but nothing extra....Jennifer Barretta - needs to move the white ball around the table easier then she does now..
These are my obervations...Wayne (Toronto)
