I will try to post some pictures of the WPBA National Championship. There is unfortunately no Internet access in the hotel so it is quite difficult. I am using dail up now but I get cut off quite often.
Anyway, I will try my best.
I am posting the pictures in the picture gallery on www.xtremebilliard.com. You can go to the site and click on the "picture" section.
My computer is low on battery so I will have to go now but I will try to figure out a way to do this in a more effective manner. Wish me luck:)
Thank you.
Richard

I have taken pictures of the hotel, the WPBA National Championship banquet and the ceremony, along with some pictures of the Pro Am during the first day. I am uploading the pictures now and it is slow, please check back from time to time.
Thank you.

wow great pics keep them coming...karen looked great

Where's all the talk and updates? According to the WPBA website, here's an update on the brackets:

Side A:
A. Fisher vs. Nelson/Chen
K. Fisher vs. Webb/Barretta
GY Kim vs. Hofstatter
Villarreal vs. White (def. Corr 9-6)

Nearly all the top 16 seeds made it to the round before the final 8 on the A side. Ellerby was the only one not to, losing her opening match to Kim White, beating Lisa D'Atri, but going down to Melissa Little to finish 33rd. Here are some matches of interest on the B Side:

Hines vs. Webb/Barretta loser
Rousey vs. Corr
Atwell vs. Thornfeldt (winner to play Rousey/Corr winner)
Little vs. Kelly

Looks like form is holding so far. The top sixteen seeds went 30 - 1 in the first two rounds.

Of the twenty five that remain according to the WPBA.com posted brackets, all but two are ranked higher than 30th. Kim White is a former #12 making a comeback and can hardly be viewed as a surprise to remain in the event, though her win over Corr is, obviously, a major uspet. Jane Fujinaga probably qualifies as the only cinderella story left.

The questions that come to mind for me as we enter Saturday's play.

1) How good is Gerda hitting them? It seems that to beat Herndon 9 - 1 requires an amazingly high level of pool. Gerda vs Ga Young could be a great match, as Ga Young is fresh off her very impressive win at Mohegan Sun.
2) Are recently emerging players --- both hailing from the Ladies Spirit Tour in Florida --- Tracie Hines and Myuki Sakai ready to take their careers to the next level with a solid effort today?
3) Can Kim White continue her great run with a TV round appearance possibly within reach?

And, finally, if Allison should prevail and finish 2005 having won the Amway Cup, the BCA Open, the US Open and the Nationals, how strong is that?

KingCarom,
I see your in the seattle area. Where do you shoot at?

Hey Getnbzy-

I mostly practice at home or at McCorry's in Woodinville since they take good care of their equipment. Otherwise, I normally play close to home, which is the bars and pubs on the eastside. Mainly for league. I plan to play out of the new Parlor billiards which will be opening up December 8th in Bellevue, across the lake from Seattle. I'll most likely be moving my Tuesday night APA team there for winter session since the place is shaping up to be a killer room.

You get up this way much?

I grew up in woodinville. Actually on Cottage lake right next to Norm's resort(As it was known until 1990 when it became american adventure...for a short time) I was up there last month for a week. Funny thing was that even though I wasn't really looking for it, I was in action almost every night. Monday at a place called Legend's in West seattle. Tuesday played and won a mini tourney in a bar in kirkland. Wednesday a guy walks up to me in Dr. cue's looking for a game. Thursday night at the Corner pocket in W. Seattle. Over the weekend I tried pull tabs for the first time and hit a $100 winner. All in all a great trip. I try to make it up once a year usually around X-mas/New year's. Maybe I'll run into you in late Dec. Take care.

Monica knocked Alison out of the winner's side 9-8. So, the finals of Side A are Monica Webb vs. Vivian Villarreal.

On the B-Side, it's Barretta vs. Chen with the winner playing Alison. Corr (def. Nelson 9-6) will play Little, with the winner playing Kelly Fisher.

Hi PJ,

I share your joy! :D

Actually Kelly defeated Melissa and she'll play Karen with the winner playing Ga Young. Go Ga! ;)

Allison will face the winner of the two Jennifers. Go Jennifer B! ;)

I'm so glad Vivian will be on TV again. Hopefully she'll beat Monica and win the final. It's been too long since she's seen the winner's circle and it will make a great story if she gets there. :)

BTW, is this considered a major?

That where I live, In Woodinville. Just bought a house in Wellington. My wife's parents live right by Cottage lake.

One of my favorite places when I was dating my wife was the Corner pocket in West seattle. She lived a couple blocks away. I love anyplace that has the super poly black Gold Crown I's...sweet, sweet tables.

Shoot me a PM when you get up here.

Other than looking at the ladys, who really like to watch them play? They play on bucket pockets and play about as well as a B male player.
