For those who are interested - the brackets are now complete and available on the WPBA site. Play starts this morning - they don't have times on the brackets.

It looks ...

for the most part that the top names are pretty
spread out for the 1st round. Sarah Ellerby and
Pam Treadway look to be one of the most interesting
1st round matches. Isn't Pam the one that has been
coming on strong the last few months? A few run into
tough matches the 2nd round, but the 3rd round looks
to be a tough round with many top names running into
each other.

What time do they start playing?

From what I've read, Pam has not lost any of the tournaments that she has played in-or something like that. She also won the amateur women in Valley Forge. She's definitely someone I'm keeping my eye on. Good luck to her!

Anna Kostanian

Watch out for Anna Kostanian; she is playing pretty good right now.

omg ...did you read the brackets? The only question is who is going to meet Karen Corr in the finals

Pam Treadway is one to watch on the horizon. With this much talent at 18 years of age, I can only see her game getting better and better. :)

Here's my Pamela Treadway pic from the 2005 Super Billiards Expo accepting her first-place trophy from Dawn and Allen Hopkins, with the runner-up. Those trophies at the SBE were the most beautiful I have ever seen.

I think one of Pam's BEST game traits is her intense focus and "killer instinct." She REALLY wants that win and fights to the end. I believe being in action a time or two has most definitely contributed to Pam's strength, like a few other players I know. ;)

Peering in the backdrop of the pic is Pam's friends, Young Guns Shaun "The Shirt" Wilkie and Pam's sidekick Josh Brothers, both STRONG players, grinning from ear to ear. That was Pam's first MAJOR championship title. I spoke to her briefly before, during, and after the finals match, and she was on cloud nine. What a great day that was! :D

I'd love to see her do well at this event! :)

JAM

Jam, I had the pleaseure of meeting Pamela last weekend at the Viking Tour event at the Rack in Livonia, MI. I expect to see many great wins from her because of her talent and understaning of the game. Pamela has an excellent personality and was a pleasure to have at my event.

I wish her the best of luck at the WPBA event.

She hasn't lost any Tiger Planet Pool events. She's played in other tourney's & not won. She's still up & coming.... it's been fun to watch so far...she's young, talented & has a lot of heart! She's been down 6-1 in a race to 7 and fought back to win the match. Sure, there's stronger women players out there...that's why she's up & coming... still learning & getting better. Definitely keep your eye on her. ;)

Pam needs to work on her temper a little. When she got knocked out of the MD State Championships (finished 4th), she stormed out of the room. I had to go looking for her to give her the prize money. When I found her she kept telling me that she didn't want the Qualifier, she was quitting, etc. I almost took her seriously and came real close to awarding the Q to the next eligible player. She definitely needs some work in that area.

I've only seen her at Tiger Planet Pool events so I haven't had a chance to see her lose yet. I'm not trying to make excuses because there are no excuses when someone acts as a bad sport but I'm going to guess that a large part of it is her age. LOL, she would cringe if she knew I said this, but there's still a lot of "giggly school girl" in her. :p

Timberly,

I was just surprised at the way she acted. She appeared so calm and collected throughout her last match and then *bang*, she was out of the pool room.

I know she's only 18 but someone's got to help her deal with the pressure.

Even though I do not know her, I have to agree, her age is a factoe, it is easy to take it all for granted when you are that young...what I would give to be just 10 years younger and have that natural talent! I hope she figures it out, otherwise I can see a future full of regret.

I agree completely. She really needs someone to help guide her now on how to handle the pressure and what to expect. She needs a real mentor.

Are her "friend" and "sidekick" (as JAM called them above) a help or a hindrance in this regard? I think she needs some SJM influence and perspective.
