Gomez now on the hill... 10 - 4

I hate that guy who kept on howling. I believe that's the same person who's making a lot of commotion during the Busty-Peach match. throw him off the stadium.

Why do so many people complain about the "soft" break, or want to see the break box introduced? I think if a player finds something that works for them then good luck to them. What's to stop the whiners doing the same?

I like seeing the different techniques used. I love to see the rack broken at high speed, but also when it's done slowly. It just shows that there are many ways to play the game.

What's next? Someone complaining that another player is too good at banks & can we please stop that?

We need individuality in pool, it's what makes the game fun to watch.

I wonder if they will take a break before the Foldes vs Peach match.

Gomez will now face Karl Boyes in the last match for the day.

Care to make any predictions on who will meet in the finals and who will win the WPC?

I think the soft break trend was more or less started last year by Ronnie against Souquet, basically it's a duplication of racks. The balls don't spread so far away, don't have to deal with long distance shots so often, easier to runout..but of course also easier to get stuck in clusters.

So 2007 onwards the trend will be soft breaks..

And sopcast.

The players on table 2 utilize the hard break on that table. Seems like that table doesnt break as easy as the main TV table.

Now, the people who complain about the soft break say that they dont like it because its a sissy break. Personally, i think it adds a different complexion to the game.

When they soft break, a lot of the balls are left in the upper half of the table. Which now means that they now have to exercise a lot of cue ball control in getting whitey to weave all around that half of the table and avoid traffic.

It is actually quite entertaining... and nerve wracking... especially when you are watching live.

Boyes has a solid game and is mentally tough, but Gomez has to be the favorite. I pick Gomez over Foldes in the final.

Because pool is a spectator sport and the soft break is boring to watch.

They're breaking softly because the corner ball is dead and the 1 goes right toward the side. I personally don't like it, I think it takes too much play out of the game. Switching to 10-ball is ok, but I like 9-ball and I wouldn't mind having to break from the box if it will take away the dead corner ball.

But why is it boring? It's only one shot. Yes, I love to see the rack come apart as if someone buried a grenade in the middle but when it comes down to it if the player has an opportunity to get out then what is the difference?

Please don't get me wrong, I never use the soft break. It's just not my style. But I don't see why anyone should be penalised or condemned for using it. A hard break is much more fun to see but it's the runout that follows that is more interesting to watch.

Sorry... missed the first game because i went to the loo... but Foldes clears almost all balls then misses a straight in shot on the 9.

Peach now up 1 - 0

Peach breaking now... using a soft break too... which others say is boring.. hahaha. Gets the wing ball and has an open shot on the 1 in the side pocket. He hits it with speed... and gets a good shot on the 2... wrong sided, though...

Just wanted to say that I love your avatar!

I am sickened to read the morning news. I feel asleep last night at 7:00 p.m., my time, EST, and missed all the hoopla. My horse in this race was knocked out due to an after-the-fact foul.

I didn't know that pool utilized the instant replay, like football. I had thought the referee MUST see it in order for it to be a foul. In this instance, the referee made the call long after the alleged foul.

I want to reserve judgment on the match and hope to see a replay of this tragic controversy.

I hope for a final of the young Hungarian Foldes versus Filipino Gomez.

Go VOLDES GO!
