What a line up.
My countrymen have a tough draw with Souquet and Bustamente,
but with all these sharks in the field you're gonna have to play damn near perfect every match anyway.
I count like 6 world champions in there. Long live sopcast!

Roberto Gomez

Didn't I read somewhere in this forum (probably from Roy) that Gomez plays Efren even in one-pocket?

I've read a lot about Gomez here in this forum. Seems like he has the stuff to be an "upper echelon" player. This tournament might be his coming out party.

wow.. i could slaughter that konstantine stephanov kid a few years ago, now he's the top rated player in europe. just goes to show that when you are out there competing your games improves exponentially compared to when you aren't...

He may play him even, but real question is whether can win even? If so, he should be on a flight to the DCC to win the big money.

Hehe, you got that right.

BTW, here is Roy's post to which I was referring....

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=869787&postcount=11

Supposedly, he lost 5-3 playing Efren even. Still pretty darn strong.

I think if Gomez ever gets a US visa, that Roy just busted a lot of his action. Well, I didn't help much either. ;)

I guess Roberto Gomez is getting a lot of respect from Stan James too. He's playing Fong Pang
Chao tonight and the odds are dead even. Here's the rest of the odds for the other matches:

Chao, Fong Pang - 5/6 vs. Gomez, Roberto - 5/6
Peach, Daryl - 6/4 vs. Lee, Kun-Fang - 1/2
Stolka, Harry -15/8 vs. Wu, Yu-Lin 4/11
Bustamante, Francisco - 4/11 vs. Van Den Berg, Nick 15/8
Pagulayan, Alex - 1/4 vs. Condo, Louis 5/2
Mladenovic, Goran - 11/10 vs. Martel, Alain 4/6
Immonen, Mika - 1/2 vs. Drago, Tony 6/4
Van Boening, Shane - 2/5 vs. Foldes, Vilmos 7/4
Lu, Hui Chan - 1/3 vs. Babica, Radoslaw 2/1
Luong, Chi-Dung - 6/5 vs. Kawabata, Satoshi 8/13
Wu, Chia Ching - 2/5 vs. Bustamante, Joven 7/4
Stepanov, Konstantin - 6/5 vs. De Luna, Jeff 8/13
Rye, Seung-Woo - 5/6 vs. Boyes, Karl 5/6
Kuo, Po Cheng - 8/13 vs. Ortmann, Oliver 6/5
Chang, Jung-Ling - 4/5 vs. Deuel, Corey 10/11
Souquet, Ralf - 4/6 vs. Feijen, Niels 11/10

So are you saying that if I wager $4 on Alex, I can win $1 if he beats Condo?

So even if a player is undefeated, does a loss mean elimination?

There's still a lot of undefeated players out there and this is the weeding out
time, time to separate the men from the boys. It's a "one and done" situation
now. Win or go home...

SJM,

You and me always go back and forth on Oliver Ortman.:)
I noticed he is conspicuous by his absence in your final 16....

The one match of these final 32 that I really wish I could watch is the Po Chen Kuo vs Ortmann match up. I really like both these great players. Believe it or not, I'm unable to make a choice in that match.

Another of my all time favorites, Fong Pang Chao is still swinging, so, good luck to him also.

And yes, good luck to SVB!

I am gonna root for my pool instructor, Alain Martel!!! I didn't even know he went to play in that tournament, no wonder why I couldn't reach him and schedule another lesson:D
