WRISTS - The "hidden power catalyst" of a great stroke or "just along for the ride"?

dorabelle, you have been on here for two years. If you actually were serious about bettering your game, you would realize that CJ has put NOTHING on here that wasn't already here. He has, however, made quite the mess of describing things to where few have a clue what he is even talking about. And added a whole lot of B.S. to the simple principles.

Sorry, but just because a pro says he is putting out info that no one else has ever seen, doesn't make it so. All of you hanging on his every word have done nothing but show me that none of you really are interested in improving. If you were, you would already know what he is trying to describe, and where he is making a mess of it. All that info is HERE, RIGHT HERE ON THIS SAME FORUM. Nice to know that the info about twenty of us have been putting on here has been a waste of time on our part.

All I do is work on my stroke and right now, the wrist is a big part of what im working on. Im taking my stroke from about 11 inches down to around 5 and the wrist is the secret in doing this and having power. Sorry I find this exciting its just a relevant topic to me at the moment. You have no idea what my stroke looks like or how interested I am in bettering it. IM not so much hanging onto CJs words, Im more hanging onto words of other teachers saying the wrist plays no part in adding extra power to the stroke.
I dont come into the main forum too much because its a bunch of this nitty negative stuff. WRIST in the title caught my attention. Im sorry I didnt post in your other threads.
Neil Im interested to hear why you think I am posting in this thread if Im not interested in bettering my stroke.

please don't use words like Chipping/clicking/breaking in describing your stoke.

CJ, why do you post "The game is the teacher" to every post you make? It's EXTREMELY annoying.

Thank you for posting your secrets. It may be true, I don't know. And I can't even try it because after reading all this thread, I just don't understand what you mean. And I think that's why you should have worked more on your original post. Make it more easy to understand, or provide some video material.

As you said, it cannot be seen by the naked human eye. Okay - use a recording device and then use a video editing program (if you don't have the experience, I am happy to help). You don't need hi-speed filming equipment.

What I really believe, is, that the HUUUUUUUUGE amount of hard work you have put into your game to become a great player that you are, is the reason why you can move the white around so much with little effort. The wrist punch or whatever may just be a bad habit or a fruit of your imagination.

Still, not saying there is 0% chance there is something to it, but you should just simply prove it.

Chipping/clicking/breaking your wrist during your stroke advice may actually do some bad to the strokes of people who try it, if they don't understand fully what you mean.

Wish you well,
Margus.

"Chipping/clicking/breaking your wrist "

Where on earth did you get these descriptions? Certainly not from me.

Sorry brother, but there is techiques and systems to playing pool. I'm not some freak that has some "superhuman" abilities. LoL ... I'm just like anyone else, I just learned how to play pool like others learn how to play golf, basketball, tennis, paint, sculpture, play music etc.

There's always a system to get better, but please don't use words like Chipping/clicking/breaking in describing your stoke. That would be harmful VERY HARMFUL indeed. :groucho:

Well, folks I gotta go ....the MOSCONI CUP obligations need my full attention. Have a Happy Halloween EVERYONE, even my favorite fans pj, neil and "short scott" lee.....WE LOVE YOU GUYS, thanks for playing along on "BATTLE ON AZ BILLIARDS" T.O.S.S. vs CJ WILEY :groucho:

CJ,I applaud the fact that you've become a prominent figure here in such a short period, and the fact that you've went to such an extent to completely change what you were doing physically when you played at the level you did to begin with, when no one left on American soil could spot you in my mind.

It's cool you mentioned Hank Haney, who also helped re-tool Tiger obviously which took the same kind of self-mastery you have when he was already the best on the planet to begin with.

You've also brought up a point I've always felt like was overlooked in favor of things like low-deflection shafts and aiming systems, and that is the refinement of the stroke's physical components.

When I first REALLY getting into the game, the stroke model I went by was Mike Sigel.

From what I saw,it looked like he was turning his hand in a way that made his cue turn in his hand as he took his warm-up strokes as well as the actual motion thru the shot,so I made mine do the same thing.

I felt like this turning of the cue during the stroke worked like the rifling in a gun barrel, only the rate of spin varied instead of remaining constant like a real barrel.

This was in my case performed with a consistent, repeatable hand action with a firm grip and a more or less rigid wrist.

My stroke has also changed over the years, and I now combine my original model with a hand action with a much looser grip, along with a Filipino-type throwing motion.

Oddly enough,my cue still spins on my actual stroke, and WAY more fluid and with a wider array of options to accomplish the task at hand. Tommy D.

I'll be glad to help you on Face Book if you don't want to see this ugliness.

It's ok, I know there's a lot of "haters" on this Forum, but haters gotta hate so they can feel better about their lives.

Sure, just go to the link for me ATHLETE"S Page and send me a private message. I have 17 orders, 3 to go. LINK TO CJ"S ATHLETE"S PAGE

done, CJ!
And thanks again for this topic, your explanation helped me to understand better what I was trying to achieve on my own by copying your style from youtube videos. And it obviously worked! My game got a lot better in short time. Undefeated this season on my league and went up 3 skill levels in less than a month!

There you go with your name calling again. Does that make you feel like a big man? As has been told to you many times, no one is hating anything except your lack of ability to instruct and your propensity for just plain ol bullshit. But, I guess when you just don't have the knowledge to explain what you are doing, you have to resort to name calling. How professional of you.

Madmiller,

Congratulations. That's pretty swift. One size does not fit all, but one little thing can set the flood gates wide open.

Keep it up & do not stop till you're the top dog. Then find a bigger dog pound.

Best Regards,

Good luck CJ and team.

We will converse more when you get back.

Like I have said before, dismiss the words of a few, there are many of us out here that are willing to read your writings.

I have only been on AZB for a couple of years. I joined AZB in the hopes of finding answers to issues with my fundementals, you have helped tremendously.

That Texas accent and JA's southern accent should bring everyone together. :)

Go get 'em

John

Does anyone have to really guess as to why more top players don't come to this forum and stay long. Its hard to believe the ego's of some of the people on here!

I hear ya. Everyone on here is a pro player and world champion.....not!

Its really unfortunate that individuals who think they are champions do not have a reputation as being a champion. Maybe its in their minds.

Like I have stated a few times, I'll read or listen to a champion waaay before I'll listen to or read something posted by a casual AZB poster.

At best, right now I am probably a good "B" player. I'm here to get better....and I will.

Good post man. :)

When CJ started posting on here I spoke with him and warned him of a few who would attack him. I wish I could have got a bet down on it because I knew it was the nutts!

I tend to agree with you but let's not go overboard. Think about it for a second and look at other sports where they actually do have coaches. How many tennis coaches were the best players in their day? Not that many. How many football coaches were great players? Not that many.

There is something to be said for having the ability to teach rather than do. Remember Hal Nix? He wasn't a great pool player but if you ask Nick Varner, he would tell you that Hal helped his game (at least I think he would).

I do agree that some on here seem to be jealous of CJ. I watched CJ play when he was playing both on TV and in person at the Sands in Reno. He was an awesome player and I appreciate his willingness to share his secrets and don't understand those that are complaining. I don't think they realize how petty and ugly they appear to some of us (probably more than I could guess). They should apologize to CJ and hope the rest of us forget about their classless behavior!!

I was already logging in to say that CJ has shown more patience and deference to others than I ever could, given the responses here.

When was it so wrong for a person to share their ideas and thoughts about pool here? Because he doesn't say things the way you would, or see things the way you do? There are many roads up the same mountain- we don't all have to take the same paths, or follow the same leaders.

Shame on you lot also, for making fun of him trying to sell a dvd. Anybody else who wants to sell a chalk holder, cue, plastic rack, t-shirt or pay for their next teaching road tour should be on your hit lists too, then.

No wonder we don't have any pros on AZB- the self proclaimed experts here can't stand the competition of thoughts and words.

Personally, I'm glad to have all players of CJ's caliber contributing to this forum. I'm sick and tired of having to read through 15 pages of criticism every time CJ creates a thread. I go through and take the information that is helpful. Just stay out of the thread, nobody here needs a handful of clowns to babysit the community.

Well, CJ has left the building! :outtahere: Congrats to all the off topic posters that saved us from a fate worse than going two and out. Hopefully your egos are still intact and your reputation on AZB as a master know it all has been elevated.

After being poked, :poke: pushed, ridiculed and laughed at, another pro got fed up with trying to pass around a little info from his experiences. That's alright. We have the AZB clique to steer us in the right direction to mediocrity. After all, hit a million or two shots and you'll be a pro someday. It just takes perfect practice and discipline. It's guaranteed, don't worry! There are no techniques or "secrets". That's all crap! Learn to be a robot.

Thanks, CJ for everything. Especially all the cool pictures you googled that turned us into simpletons and "macadamia claspers". We aren't able to see through your "bu!!$h!t", so come back and post after you win the CUP!

Best,
Mike

BTW, I learned more $h!t from CJ in the past few weeks than I have in the past few years listening to the AZB Masters.

Mike,

Thanks for the chuckle.:rotflmao1:

So one size really does not fit all.

I agree with all that you just said. Although I've only been here since June.

I really feel sorry for you being here as long as you have.

Best Regards,

Whats amazing about most of this thread is CJ Wiley is a proven Champion he has played and beat the best in the world. So Maybe he just might know what he is talking about, but instead we got a few regional wanna be's and instructors saying he doesn't know his azz from a hole in the ground.

Keep up the good work guy's eventually he will be gone like the other Pro's that posted here at one time.

Opinion's are like azz holes every body has one, but unless I could beat the Champion speaking I wouldn't be challenging his skills or knowledge. I believe he's got about 95% of this web site covered.
