Watch "Robert Hall vs Kerry McAuliffe at the 2012 US Amateur Championship" on the insidepool site http://www.insidepool.tv/videos

I played Kerry before (he's the taller one in black) and watched him play in RI, I don't think I have seen anyone else point the cue and wiggle it around like he does on every shot, even simple ones. Is that what CTE looks like at the extreme? I mean it just can't be his natural aiming procedure. Seems to work for him, he makes balls nicely enough.

Looks like he tries to get down straight on the standard sighting line on every shot and takes the cue to see this line to the virtual ghost ball.
I think he is in no way using something like CTE Pro1 or SEE.
He shows a lot of inconfidence too on his approaches to the cue ball each time which would be different if he used one of the systems mentioned above.
Stroke seems OK so he would be a potential customer that could profit by using one of these systems 😜

Kerry is a member on the forum. His screen name is KMRUNOUT. I hope he sees this and responds. I've wondered about his unusual routine as well.

Thanks, I usually see him in Snookers, I'll just have to ask him were he got that aiming thing he does.

Looks to me like he might be using his cue to judge the distance and proper placement of his back foot. Doing it that way, his stance is the same every time. Makes a big difference.

Also looks like he is using 90/90 aiming. Looks like sometimes he is not sure of center cue ball and quickly brings his tip back to edge to edge alignment and then back to center.

He may look a little rough doing it, but, it is a very reliable way to set up and aim.

Yeah, I do see a 90/90 thing going on, there. Kind of reminds me of watching Ed Norton line up a shot!

Best,
Mike

Ed Norton would play a great pool player

Ed Norton would play a great pool player, I wouldn't be surprised if he is one. ;)

It looks like he is fiddleing with his bridge hand alot. And uses the cue stick as his line to the edge of the object ball. It looks alot like the "Holy Grail aiming system" (form of CTE) Tom Simpson teaches. Line up at the edge of the object ball and if its over a certain degree your bridge hand will either land on the inside or outside of the cue ball. It looks identical. Interested to know what he uses.

FWIW Kerry was made aware of this thread and I assume is choosing to stay out of it. Probably doesn't make a lot of sense to speculate on what he is doing if he chooses not to discuss it.

I think for sure he wasn't using the arrow.

Hey John! Here it is 2 months later, and I just heard from you at the Super Billiards Expo just now for the first time that this thread existed. I'm actually perfectly happy to reply, but I'm on my phone at the moment walking around. I'll take a look tonight when I get back to my room.

What cue are you playing with? Can you share some close up pictures here? Thanks.
