x breaker questions

ive been checking the forums, anyone have a x breaker for sale or know of a place where i could get a x breaker for a good price. looking to spend about $300 max on a break cue, any suggestions besides the x breaker? i am also looking at a custom sledgehammer which looks nice, i was also wondering will a custom sledgehamer hit the same as a production sledgehammer, thanks

Do yourself a favor.... Buy a Varney. Used ones are hard to come by, but if you buy one, you'll wonder why you never did it before.

Really? does everyone agree to that? a Varney Break cue is better than a XBreaker?

I dont know too much about Varney cues, how much, where to get one? how long will it take to make it? who would i order it from? can i get details.

I am sure most everyone that has an X Breaker is pleased with it as well. I have heard some good things about Richard's cue.

I am sure those that have a Gulassy or a BK2 are very happy with them as well. ETC ETC

What I mean is everyone won't have the same opinion. My opinion of the Varney J/B is based on my experience of owning one (now 2). If you're interested, here is the review I wrote for my first one. If you do a search, you'll find what many others have to say as well.

My break improved greatly, and jumping has never been easier.

Don't take just my word for it. Ask around and do some searches.

If you are looking strictly for a break cue, I think the Predator BK2 is the way to go and a new one is about your $300 budget. It gives you a lot of control and it's easier to use than most other break cues because it squirts less on off center hits, which happens a lot when you're breaking hard. They are not good for jumping.

I have the X-Breaker by Samsara. It's a good break cue and a really good jump cue. I don't think too many people will be selling these for $300 since they're not being made by Samsara anymore.

If you are looking for an inexpensive jump/break cue there are lots of them out there and they're all pretty decent. I hear the Fury is good.

Omega is a good j/b at just under 100 bucks.
 
i dont really want anything too inexpensive, i used to have the fury and another break cue, wasnt too crazy about those but the sledgehammer i really like, how does the x breaker compare to the sledgehammer

Very similar. It's easier for me to control the cueball with the x breaker tip and I like the fact that the tip is separate from the ferrule, allowing the user to replace the tip easily. I thought the Sledgehammer had a slippery tip and it's one piece with the ferrule, not replaceable. The X breaker tip seems to grab a little more. However, in general I would say they are pretty similar with similar performance.

I have one of each of these and also a Falcon j/b. I agree with Chris's opinions completely. I prefer the X or the Falcon. I have a Talisman X-hard tip on the Falcon and have used it to play with as well as j/b and it's a dammed nice cue for all around work. So for me it's a toss up between the X and the Falcon.
