Yikes! I'm becoming Johnny Archer

At one time, Johnny had this very annoying habit of picking lint off the table before he would shoot. My guess was that he had a coke habit, which can often lead to compulsive behavior.

But now that I have my own table, and have begun cleaning it with microfiber towels, I'm doing the same damn thing. Is there a cure for this?

As yet, my game hasn't begun to resemble Johnny's. How long will that take?

In your dreams!

the cure...

There is only one fix for this condidtion you are experiencing...you need to order from Earl Strickland those Pool playing glasses...(yellow tint) then you only see balls and pockets exclusively...only problem is that now you will have a hearing problem to combat...you will be able to hear people just thinking about your shooting and everything else about you...

also, you need to drop the coke and switch to redbull...

Yikes!!!!

I've seen lots of video of him doing this, and figured that was just "his way". I guess it's not such a bad idea to remove a piece of hair or a chalk crumb or something from the table if it's in his path and he feels it could wobble up his shot, although to your point maybe he's way too meticulous about it. Hard to tell from video whether he's removing anything of significance. Has he stopped doing it in recent years?

Quit doing coke.

I have a little pickin habit but not nearly as bad........ peices of chalk on hte table and things that can REALLY affect my roll.........

But one rant I have on johnny thats sort of relevant..........He has the most annoying preshot routine lol......but hey reassurance is key IMO!

I was putting the other day and when a putt jumped off line after hitting some crap on the green, for some reason I started wondering if Johnny's golf background was a factor in his preshot routine at pool these days.

He Picks Lint To Slow Himself Down I Guess It Helps Him Focus Atleast Thats What Im Told I Seen Him Play Yesterday And He Was Still Picking And Also Running Out From Everywhere

Don't feel too badly about this habit, as the late great 3 cushion player Sang Lee did this all the time and then sometimes would take 15 - 20 or more warm up strokes - but when he shot man, it was out of this world!!!

Johnny does a lot of stuff like that. Like moving balls out of the pocket he's bridging over because it might put a glare in his eye. He'll also wipe a spot off the rail even if he's not using that portion of the rail at the time. I saw him walk to the side rail one time to pick up chalk (cue ball was on another rail) and he proceeded to wipe the rail clean even though the cue ball was clear on the other side of the table. I think he does this stuff more because it just bugs him, not because it might cause him to err.

Pretty disrespectful to "guess" one of the greatest players to ever pick up a cue has a coke problem because he doesn't like to be distracted by lint.

So hit me with some bad rep, why doncha?

Pretty disrespectful of you to dis me. Actually, if Johnny had a coke problem, he'd have my sympathy. Been down that road myself and recovered from it.

I have to agree.....to think Johnny has a coke habit is one thing, but to put it in print is showing poor form....jmo
