You Need Scott Lee

I finally got a coaching session with Scott Lee last night, and I can only say I wish I'd done it sooner. I've known Scott for years, talking with him whenever we run into each other at pool halls in Chicago (he's here a lot), and have always admired his practical teaching philosophy based in solid knowledge and experience, so I've always thought it "couldn't hurt" to take a lesson with him.

Now that I've had the "Scott Lee experience" I understand what's been missing from our casual conversations. When Scott is "on", it's something to behold - he's a fast-moving, fast-talking bundle of pool-focused energy, dispensing rapid-fire insights and really cool simple, practical techniques for self-monitoring, practice and improvement that really impressed me and I think will really help me (and I'm pretty picky about what I'll try). His frame-by-frame video analysis of my stance and stroke (he actually draws on the screen right over the image to illustrate his points) was worth the price of admission by itself, but the added value of his down-to-earth, effective techniques are real icing on the cake.

We worked exclusively on stance and stroke (my choice), and I think I already have *pretty* good fundamentals, but Scott clearly has enough to teach me about that to satisfy my thirst for improvement. We had to cut the session short because of logistical delays getting started, but I'll catch the rest of it next time Scott's in town. I'll be looking forward to it, Scott, and recommending it to others.

Did he put your mind to ease about SAM yet, or is that for the next session too?

Consider for a moment that you do not have good fundamentals, and you, like me, have a strong desire to improve as well.

Now you are REALLY getting value for your time and money.

Again, I will be doing a full review of Scott's Pool School when my game comes full circle. I have more to do with what he taught me, and can't provide a clear picture of what I took from the class until I am more proficient at what I learned.

Coming from PJ, this is an impressive recommendation. I have recommended Scott to several people over the years, even though I have never taken a lesson from him. I have never yet heard any complaints from the people he has worked with.

Is thinking I have pretty good fundamentals but still have things to learn preventing me from getting value? Or am I misunderstanding you?

The World stood still....for a brief moment anyway.

Way to go PJ.......SPF=randyg

We didn't even touch on SAM. I'm much more interested in getting coached on my fundamentals, and there's plenty to work on there. Maybe some day...

I too took a lesson from Scott last week, I found him to be very good at what he does, he takes his time to make sure you understand a topic before he goes on to the next one. He made me feel that I got more then my money's worth. If I did not have to go to work the next day, I think he would have stay in my basement giving me lessons all night. Thanks Scott, see you at DCC.

Sorry if what I posted was confusing.

I was trying to say that I personally needed to work a lot on my fundamentals. As you can see from what Scott provides, a guy like me can really take off and improve, making what I learned valuable, to me, personally. That's all I meant.

Pat...Several others were watching us, and after you left, came over to ask about instruction too! That seems to happen a LOT, no matter where I am. :D Sorry we had to quit early. I really would have liked to at least go over the book with you. However, you need to do that right away, and begin your new 'process'. The book gives the details and schedule on how to best go about that. Remember to call me with any questions, and I can walk you through it at the table. See you in a couple of weeks!

I'm headed for a lesson in Las Vegas on Friday, and then lessons in San Bernadino, Riverside, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Jose, Walnut Creek, and Sacramento, California...over the next 10 days. Anyone interested, in those areas, nearby, or along the way, can PM me for more information.

Thanks Bill...We're still going to get together the next time I'm in Cincinnati, which will be mid-Oct.! I saw Adam and Brian at the DCC, and Adam was in action every time I saw him...or sweating matches of some of the big boys!

Your out of your mind Scott; You know I have your number, AND problems! There's not enough time in the day...:)

Thanks again Scott.

All I want for Christmas is...

...Pool School. I've already told my wife.

My ONE lesson with Scott paid dividends the other day. I had an old recurring stroke problem pop up and voila, the solution was on my tape. I'd totally forgotten that he straightened it out back then and through the magic of video he did it again.:D

Thanks, Scott!

Awesome!

The SAM discussions we had on here really paid off for me too. The other day I decided to go to a nearby bowling alley and see if what I thought I was reading and understood would work for me. So I grabbed a table and threw out a couple of balls, measured the cross line, found the point, lined up through the center of the cue ball and...thwack! right in the heart. I tried it again, but this time I wasn't so lucky. Then I lined up another and missed it. So I stopped, scratched my head and thought for a second.

Before I could shoot another shot, I heard a voice "Hey mister, you wanna play some for cheap?" I looked around and there was a young punk there, wanted to play for $5 a game. Sure. I said.

I forgot about SAM and thumped him a quick 3 games, busting him. He was angry and blurted out "You didn't play like that before when you were practicing, you're a HUSTLER" he almost spit the word instead of saying it.

I laughed and realized my experimentation with SAM had paid off. Quite nicely too. I think I might go to more teenie hangouts and try and figure it out some more.

:D

Cheers,
RC

MikeM...Been a LONG time! LOL:D We have plans for a pool school in both Baltimore and Richmond, but probably not until next summer. If you don't want to wait that long, I'm planning another school in Harrisburg, PA for January.
