I want to thank all the people who have been in my corner and been my friend. That being said, I'm all done here. There will be no more posts.
You guys win, I have way too good a life to argue with nitwits. Goodbye. Please, no private messages. I won't look at them or answer.

Your call Grady...but this newbie is going to miss you. Please reconsider.

give me a break !!

i can't believe that a grown man, let alone a champion, a well known person and someone that supposedly has alot of heart is gonna let some people that voice there opinion make you pick up your toys and go home and never come back. are you kidding me?? i don't know you mr. matthews but i know of you. always thought you had a stand up strong personality and the heart of a pool playing gun fighter. no give up would be a term i would use. seen alot of your tapes and heard alot of your commentary. think highley of ya. but if you can't take the sticks and stones of others and are gonna just quit and go pout(probably misspelled) then i guess i was mistaken. i didn't read all the post, parts of some, and this one. what a way for a living legend to act. outed by a bunch people with an opinion. to bad. have a nice day.

Mr. Matthews,

I'm sorry to see you go, however I'm not going to lament your decision.

Your contributions have been great so far, and I hope you change your mind.

Do I think you will?

Not holding my breath.

Good luck and best wishes.

this will be another great thread full of ignorant wannabe opinions, some already up. you just got to be lacking selfrespect and a good mother.

reconsider grady.

ONE OLD MAN TO ANOTHER[/U]

Does it matter what a minority of keyboard warriors think of your motives and actions......hasn't pool always been about the lone wolf/gunslinger,etc.?

Think about it

Sorry to see you go, but it's understandable. It is a treat to be able to ask about some of the older legends and characters like Eddie Taylor, Puckett, Danny Jones, Jersey Red, etc., and get your unique perspective. In my experience, you have always been very accessable, as far as answering such questions. I'll just have to check for your stuff on your blog or onepocket.org. Thanks.

Ribdoner, can't argue with anything you said. But, sometimes, if you love something, you have to stop thinking about yourself and try to better whatever it is you claim you love. Actions are more powerful than words.

You can always tell the direction of a movement or organization by the character and actions of it's leaders and heros.

Maybe change will have to wait.:(

I'm sad for this forum, this is a loss to all of us. I hope to meet Grady someday, maybe in his new room.
:(

I'm new to this forum but a veteran of several others- it's always been my experience that anyone who starts a thread to "announce" that they are leaving (due to personality conflicts, infighting, pettiness) never stay away for long.;)

Your a Legend and will always be mentioned anytime the words 1P, 14.1 and pool are mentioned. Hate to see you go, but I understand and accept your decision 100% with no questions asked. I had the pleasure of meeting you many yrs ago and became a fan of yours then. If those who talk negative about you, had followed your career as i have, they too would see how you have really devoted you life to the sport. And not just as a player...I wish you and yours the very best.

I am really sorry to see Grady go, as well. It was always good to see him posting here, hoping that he would contribute in a meaningful way.

However, from what I saw, he really did not contribute a lot. Most of his posts were blasting some pool organization or promoter. Then, after the original post, he rarely came back to comment.

I think most everyone here would welcome his contribution towards pool; however, that was rarely seen.

I don't agree with the way that some people blasted him either; however many of his posts came off as less than friendly. Therefore, although I don't agree, I can't completely blame the people who commented negatively either.

JMO.

Its really too bad that you could not see all the love and respect that was here for you on this board. All because of this principle you have. Well you have a right to fight for that principle. I just wish you could have turned that love and respect into something more productive instead of name calling (nitwits). Yes there are going to be nitwits and you subject yourself when you become public in your demands. I just hope you continue playing and producing as you always have done. And keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side of life.
Always a fan and student Yobagua

Goodbye cruel World posts are nothing new.

This is the first and I hope last time I see a someone leave by something they did, (normally it's other people who make the poster bail) but recently I can honestly say that Grady had nothing but negative topics and ideas, and people simply tuned him out.

Grady:
Someplace about three pages deep is a thread on pool lessons. In the next to the last entry I posted an essay I wrote about 15 years ago about what makes a great teacher.

The teacher I am referring to is you. Perhaps this will contribute to the idea that many of us have a great deal of respect for a man little known outside the pool world but well known and respected for his abilities in the world of pool.

You and I have never met but your reputation precedes you by many many years. In other forums I too have resigned when people just bugged the hell out of me, only to regret it later. Swallow your pride and remember that for every negative comment there are probably 10 who read and come back because of your perspective.

BTW the essay did place in the competition and I did win some money so you contribute in ways that you do not know about. :D :D

You and I are about the same age and we simply need to learn that some of the kids these days never learned to respect other people out of respect for themselves. That concept is just beyond them.
