Young Brendan Crockett at U.S Bar Table

Brendan beat Glenn Atwell (2009 All Around winner) 9-4 in the 2010 USBTC 9-ball winners bracket just now.

Sorry G, love ya darlin' but dang that was a crush...great job Brendan!

Very Strong Indeed!!!! Congrats Brendan!!!!!!

Brenden Crockett, Dan Olson, Taylor Anderson, Landon Shuffet, Behnke, and a few others all play out of this world for their age. What's even more amazing is they all are like seasoned veterans. When you got it you just got it, these young guns all have it.

SVB better enjoy his time on top, the next wave is coming for sure and I predict they will all win major championships.

you're right about it settling things but not in the way you mean....

2 years is almost no time at all. If he's truly been playing for only 2 years I think this settles the natural talent vs. hard work argument. I had a chance to see some kids play who have beaten Brendan and I thought they were monsters.

There is no shame asking a 15 yr old for the 6 and the break and not being able to win! I know this from experience.

If most knew how much effort and dedication Brendan has put into the game you might not make this comment...

I was sitting at the bar and having a discussion with Dave Hemmah and Dogsplayingpool and I made the comment that with almost no exceptions, every REALLY good player I know had absolutely dedicated themselves to the game and almost nothing else for one to two years.

If you have some natural talent and ability and you have few to none bad habits from banging around at the game and you get quality instruction from the get go, there should be nothing stopping you from achieving a high level of game play in one to two years.

I don't want to derail this thread, so lets just suffice it to say, that you shouldn't take away from the effort that Brendan has put into the game by saying he is just naturally talented. Yes, he is naturally talented, but that isn't the reason he plays at the level he does in the short time he has been playing.

It took dedication and proper instruction too.

Well put.

I am not directing this at anyone, but I do get the impression that a lot of people like to say that someone is JUST naturally gifted so they can justify not being as successful because of talent.

Let's assume that Brendan does 4 hours of drills/practice per day and plays the ghost or opponents another 4 hours a day. Not to mention constant supervision from a top pro/instructor.

Do people honestly think with that kind of dedication that they still can not reach greatness because of "lack of talent?"

8 hours of banging balls/day is NOWHERE near the same amount of work.

OF COURSE, way to go Brendan!!! Nice to see hard work paying off. I saw you shoot at the Swanee and attest to your dedication and drive as you were always squeezing in practice racks on any open table between matches.

keep it up.

It looks like he's still playing very well... winning his match against Jasmin in the U.S. Open 10-ball.

see this kid play out at moorpark when i see him its just astonishing how he sees the game, unless he's off he just plays like a (apa-7 sk lvl) which is still redic lol.
